1st post in the jazz thread. I didn't know the guy but feeling a little low tonight on hearing that Horace Silver has died. I played a stack of his tunes and am now listening to this which seems to speak to the occasion.

John Coltrane - Live at the Village Vanguard [Impulse]

Serious (active) listening. ...In trance between my main rig and laptop.
...Dead center between my two lovers on my loveseat. ...Main listening area (sweet spot). ...The "G" factor (spot).
...And having a cold one. Please don't disturb.

Someone is on a Frisell kick. Personally I really like his East/West live album. The funny part about my copy is that the East music is on the disk labelled West, and visa versa. I bought this from the BMG music club, so maybe it was just a faux pas on their side and not part of the official releases.

Anyway, recently checking out someone who could be considered the heir apparent to Toots Thielmans, his name is Hendrik Meurkins:

Yes, I very much like his music; totally my style of playing.

* My double CD disc set is called West/East. ...In chronological order for an orderly guy. ;)

Its been a while since i last posted but im glad to be enjoying listening to some outstanding jazz on vinyl tonight and sharing my selections with you. Right now I'm thoroughly enjoying "First Time" The Count Meets The Duke. Excellent Jazz being showcased by the Masters of their, and arguably "all time!" It was recorded in an interesting way with The Count and his orchestra on one channel and the The Duke and company on the other in the same studio and time in 1961. They both played the same music but held conversations and responses each in their style and signature. WOW! Very enjoyable!:scholar:
