Listened to it a few times over the weekend. Definitely in his bluesy mode after his last (JJ Cale tribute) album--in fact, 2 JJ Cale songs on this one. Some good songs here.
My copy is noisy between tracks and sounds a little dull on the first side. I haven't played the rest yet. I had high hopes for this LP since it was recorded and cut analog all the way. Looking at the pictures on the LP sleeves, it looks like a Studer A80 16 track deck.
I previewed this recording and couldn't get excited about it. It's probably because I have been listening to Clapton since the late 60's when the band was Cream with bassist Jack Bruce, drummer Ginger Baker, and guitarist Eric Clapton. I guess after all these years I have heard enough.
Bought mine today at Barnes and Noble. Listened this past weekend to his Slowhand at 70 - Live at Albert Hall - a very fine LIVE recording, and quiet between passages.
My I Still Do album sounds great to me. You can really crank this one up too...unfortunately for me at those levels I can hear the rumble of my old direct drive Denon between tracks...other than that it's about as quiet an album as I've heard in a long time. I wonder if replacing the stock platter mat would help?
