Idle Stop & Go (ISG) Love it or Hate it?

Yeah, for now it's Get in, Turn car on, Press Defeat switch, repeat

I will see if they can disable or reverse the default next week. I still have not driven it since I brought it home because we switched the insurance starting next Tuesday. Putting a few hundred more miles on the Rav over the next 2 days driving to the Cabin to close it up for the winter.

As far as I know, no one has been able to permanently turn ISG off (Porsche, Audi, BMW)

According to my owners manual I can defeat this function by having my Cayenne in either Sport or Sport Plus Mode.

The Auto Start Stop function is not available in the following situations, e.g.:

When SPORT/SPORT PLUS mode is active
PSM off or PSM in SPORT mode.

So I also figured out after reading a bunch, that if you come to a real slow stop the button lights up and the feature is off temporarily. Then after you resume driving, it goes back to active for the next fast stop.

Sport mode does deactivate it yes, but you get worse gas millage and you still have to push a button after every start to put it into Sport Mode so you may as well push the button right next to that one to disengage the ISG.

I found several after market memory modules that just remember the last setting it was in on next startup, so you can default it to off but still use it if you want to.....not sure why anyone would want to tho.

I found out that if my seatbelt is not engaged, the auto stop/start “feature” is disabled. Not an appealing solution but I wonder why that’s the case.

Does that no seatbelt Dinger go on forever or quit after a minute

I just found out that while the dinger is going off, if I push the red thingy in the seat belt latch in, as if connecting the belt, it shuts the dinger off. I had it shut off altogether on my Buick.

I am guessing they assume if the seat belt is not connected, you are not driving on the road and could be in a parking lot, your driveway, or in the dealer shop getting the starter replaced :)
