Since I recently bought new speakers the next major upgrade step would be to improve the amplification.

My idea is to have a pre-output build into my integrated amp. So one day I can try power amps. I've contacted the manufacturer and they can do the modification. Then in the (far) future I might add a power amp. Something like the Symphonic Line RG7mkIV.

Or would this be a bad idea?

sounds expensive . why don`t you buy a modwright integrated which can then be used as a power amp in the future and will accept a pre amp . someone i know is using the modwright 36.5 into the integrated with good effect

cheaper than paying a load of $$$$ to custom build an amp which when you sell may well not recoup all that expense

I'm really not sure yet. Ideally I'd like to get rid of some boxes. So a pre-amp/integrated class A/AB with a dac inbuild something like a Schitt gungnir multibit and a Auralic aries streamer would be ideal. But I doubt something like that exists.

I'd settle for a first sound pre amp with a build in streamer and R2R dac :)
