It's summer time and I have a cricket someplace on the second floor of my house which makes noise that resonates throughout the house and my listening room. I can't get close enough to localize it because he stops chirping when I get anywhere near.

It's really loud. HELP!

We had one at work a few times. I was able to get close enough with a can of "Lights Out" and get the bugger.

Forgive my naivete, but is "lights out" a joke or a real product?

It's real and worked instantly. It is amazing stuff and has been in the office going on 20 years. It shoots a 20 foot stream and sticks to anything near it. Wonderful stuff.

Joe, if the stuff shoots a 20 foot stream, I still need to know where to aim it if I am to get the little bugger. Finding him is the problem.

I understand and feel bad for your situation. It can be very annoying. My guys were behind some old file cabinets that get very little use. I was lucky.

Empty soda bottle with a little bit in it

Lay on its side on the floor in the suspect room

Check often - cricket will go after the sweet stuff but know if he goes in , he can get out - so check often...crumbs also will lure the bugger out

That sounds like a great idea. I'm going to put a coke bottle in the vicinity now.

My daughter is bitching about the same thing the last 2 days. Apparently there is this microscopically small cricket in a plant at the foot of the stairs. Her room is at the top of the stairs. This wee bitty cricky is making noise like a 200db freight train and keeping her awake at night. She is now dressed in camo and sitting next to the plant armed with cans of Raid waiting for him to peek his antenna up.

Of course my wife and I hear nothing.

All this and for just a little innocent and cute cricket. :)

Innocent, cute and VERY NOISY cricket!

I'll catch that little bastard. I placed a little glass coke bottle that had real sugar coke in it on the second floor near the steps just like ohbythebay suggested. I hope he's my bitch by morning!

Happened to me multiple times last year and the year before. Fortunately, this year has been cricket free.
