Windows laptop (did I just say that?), DBPOWERAMP + Synology or QNAP NAS and rip away. MacBookPro + XLD + NAS is another option (this is what I use). Add Lumin, iPad and stir!

Although the SQ would be great i am sure...........a music server for me is not my main source in the least....i use my MCD1100 to play SACD/CD's and a TT(once i get a new one) as my main sources............a music server is always "Background" music at best for me........the music server i wanna keep at a certain lower price point while the TT would be much higher price point.

Hard to argue with that! I do think, one day, you may ditch the CD player in favor of network music player. The convenience, coupled with SQ, is undeniable.
