I violated Forum Rules unknowingly, and may have also done so here, by reposting an email I got from a repair shop that now builds and sells their own Pre Amp.

Although I cannot use Private Messages there on that other site, I received 2 from the owner in which I was straddled with Serious Infractions which could be on my record for life. This is just like what would happen in Grade School, you got demerits and then detention.

I have logged out of that site and don't plan to log back in anytime soon, my real audio family is right here. I don't need the type of moderation that goes on there and it is the same as why Audio Shark was created. The moderation here is the best because but for 1 or 2 individuals, we self moderate and just plain get along.

Mike and the rest of the great Mods here, if I also violated rules for the same action here I apologize and will remember not to do so in the future.

You are doing perfectly fine here. Really the only rules are no politics and no religion. We love to share information and we don't read private messages here either.

Ps. Thank you for sharing the preamp information here. I'd love to check it out.

Thanks Joe,

I actually thought more people would have been interested in that Pre and all the underlying custom technology that was developed into it. I have not heard it, but can assure it is a nice pc of gear. I loved looking at all his work while in the shop a few years ago. It's amazing how many people order brand new CJ gear and have it delivered right to RHB for custom mods and upgrades before they ever put it into their systems. They have to be doing something right.

Maybe one of you guys with the ability could get one to demo and let the rest of us know. Maybe even get them to join the site?

Cheers!

I am afraid to ask how much it was going for but it looks like a great preamp.

Just noticed it retails for $7500

We look forward to our members sharing links to great gear, reviews and other cool sites and information. How else do we learn and expand out horizons. This is not a captive audience. We like our members to think for themselves and not be told what to do or what to think.

Post and share away. How else are we going to learn?

Absurd.

And what brand new cj gear would that be?

This was several years ago when I was there, obviously I lost count, and I cannot remember everything he had stacked up still in crates, but did see several CJ Pre amps opened and getting his custom circuits installed.

Hmmmm...I must know at least 50 cj owners and no one that I know has ever sent their units for modding.

I am not surprised since other than yourself, nobody here ever heard of them. But somehow he seems to have a few months backlog of work all the time.

But you've gone from saying "it's amazing how many," to "seeing a few," to my saying I don't know anyone. So really how many CJ units were there?

I, like Myles have never heard of one person who has taken their new cj preamp to this company.

The one reference on the web site for cj preamps to be modded talk about PV2 and prem3, both 30 years old. If your statement was correct, surekyythis web site would reference pre amps made earlier than 30 years ago :weird:

cj have not used electrolytic capacitors in their pre amps for a long time.
cj have lead the pre amp field with Teflon caps, made by V Caps to cj's own design.

One needs to be careful to speak in facts when discussing such things otherwise you may be linked with hyperbole or commonly known now as internet
spruiking

Frankly, I find it hard to believe anyone, let alone being amazed how many customers would have their brand new cj preamp sent directly to RHB for mods before they have listened to it like you have stated.

OK, so my memory is not the best, but I saw at least 3 CJs and many other amps and pres I cannot remember.

I appreciate that you have all called me out on this and I shall be careful with my facts in the future. Bottom line is that he does nice work from what I can remember, and saw while in his shop. With a stack of gear sitting there and a 2 month backlog at the time of my repair job says he must be doing something.

Most people would not even think about modding new gear, except for an OPPO player and now maybe a JOB amp :) but there are a few amongst the millions of audio owners and I guess they don't all post on these forums about it. I guess it also greatly effects resale value and warranties in some way even if they end up sounding better after mods.

No idea what the thread is about, but the whole Catholic school/demerit thing made me chuckle. Haven't heard the term in quite a while. Brings back memories

The thread morphed from me getting Serious Infraction Points that will remain on my record for life from another site, but went into the company/pre-amp/and services rendered from the cause of my infractions.

LMAO!!!! is that serious?? you got demerits .hahaha!!!

Steve, seriously. This is one of the lines from the PM I was sent

"This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire."

wow

I thought you were just kidding around to make a point.

They need to grow up. :)
