I am done with the dumpster diver board

I have something similar with my father in law.
He is an old school audiophile and I tried everything with Him.
For Him is easier to say that He does not hear any difference to accept the real truth.
Last week I tried the stillpoints on His system and He told me that it didnt do nothing
I want it to fight with Him, brake his Skull but I controlled myself and took them out again
When I took them out the system was flat and the whole room felt smaller but I kept my mouth shot
and left.
Im pretty sure He felt it but does not want to bend over and say to me that this Sh$%t works !!!

Thats life, we have to take big breathes and enjoy what we have and don't mind of the people that still
thinks that THE WORLD IS NOT ROUND

:)

Yep, I completely agree, I found this forum on the recommendation if a very nice pig because we both found ourselves feeling the same way as you. Sadly the other forum as become a meeting place for the lowest common denominator, guys who want the cheapest possible route and feel entitled to a top class system for peanuts. I'm with you, experience trumps internet theory every time in my book, funny thing is when you ask these internet scientist what experience they have with the given topic they will never answer. They will bombard you with endless BS to avoid admitting they have never actually tried the idea they are insisting doesn't work...sad really.

I think the better path is to join a forum where people are open to ideas and have an interest in learning something new. You could read a thousand cable threads or take 10 minutes and try some for yourself and get the answer you are looking for, of course it is cheaper to do nothing and simply repeat internet theory.

Yes...I tried a much calmer logical approach this morning in an effort to sow harmony...

I have to trust my own observations because ultimately, I am the guy who has to live with it...LOL. I try things people recommend, they get added, inspected and either a) I like it and they stay b) I don't like it...off to the sale bin....

Thanks all for the warm cuddly safe haven...:-)

I've been baited into online thuggery too but from another camp. There is a particular cable vendor out there that allegedly recruits into his marketing strategy to defend the brand. Some of these loyal snake charmers have been operating under familiar pseudonyms for years on many of the audio forums. Despite their low post counts & obvious post history, they can be ruthlessly persistent & I often wonder what is in it for them.

Although I have had some positive experiences with some of their product, I've also experienced negative. Congratulations to those consumers who have had positive synergy with the brand's religion & its representations but I'm not a subscriber to their current philosophies.

I refuse to be drawn into specific discussion regarding those products anymore & simply will avoid engaging any of those characters about anything for that matter. It only adds to my distaste.

BTW, cables do matter & noise is the enemy.

That right there is what makes you valuable in more acceptable circles. I wish I had the means to do this very thing you do, but I do not. However, I do respect your opinion on the things you have tried and find it very useful.

Dude... I'm all in with tweaks - and they do create differences, albeit subtle... but it's statement-making like that which give the rest of us such an uphill battle in properly educating people to our side. The over-emphasis of impact needs to be toned down - or else we just look like a bunch of drama queens.

We are all passionate about our hobby - but perspective needs to be broadened.

Absolutely! With real life (not forum) situations like that it places even more emphasis on several other factors such as everything down stream in said system and the most important thing - the person listening to it. We all hear different.

Cables Don't Matter. They All Sound The Same Regardless Of Price. So Just Buy The Cheap Ones. Anyone Who Believes Differently Is Wasting Their Money.

There, the first dissenting opinion has been stated, because this thread was just too one sided.

I think I hit all the usual arguments, right? :-)

100% with you :exciting:

I only have very expensive cables on my systems because they look nice on the floor
hahahaahahah

:D

You forgot a few

No such thing as cable break in
Capacitors don't break in, they work perfectly immediately and its all downhill from there
If you do hear a difference, its just your mind playing tricks
I once hooked up my Minimus 7 speakers to my boombox with coat hangers and it worked fine
People who buy expensive stuff just want to be able to tell others what they spent

That about covers it now :P

What I like is the implication that you are delusional if you hear a difference. A bunch of armchair psychologists.

It's been almost a year now @ the Shark aquarium; we lost some we gain some, we are slowly evolving.

An audio site is a reflection of its active members, and of all its other contributors.
Some days it has a character of its own, other days it loses some of its distinction (it's normal, everywhere).

People they come from all classes and variations. Some are more free than others (not money related).
Don't count on others to do the things you can do yourself. Audio forums are highways, and on them highways you have attentive drivers (no text messaging), and drivers who are just about to face a heart attack (forgot their medicine that day).

All in all there is only one way; deal with it the best you can, or build your shack atop a tree in the jungle.

A site like ours is like a tree. You plant it. You water it. Give it a little TLC and when needed, weed around it. But time is what is needed to make it grow.

That's a great analogy Mike, but careful there buddy you may start posting in abstract thoughts and complex riddles like Bob. :)

I am from Washington state. So I had to fix your post for you. :P

Hey, I like the idea of having an audio room treehouse in the jungle, except for the centipedes, and the dampness, and the fact that my fat lethargic out of shape audio friends wouldn't be able to climb the ladder to get in. :satisfying:
