GAS as in guitar acquisition syndrome. I have recently bought a Taurus model 56 classical guitar to replace my old Yamaha G231 II. It was a nice upgrade but then a concert guitar caught my eye, a Paulino Bernabe M-50. The price was decent for such a nice guitar and it would be a big step up from the Taurus. Considering it cost 10x as much it should be better. I got the guitar yesterday and I am more than pleased. It is much easier to play, has a better tone and can play much louder without sounding muddy (notes jumbling together). The trebbles, mids and bass notes ring clear and longer (better sustain). I think that this should be my last classical guitar, I love it!

But that isn't the end of the story. I didn't have a steel string guitar and cruising another forum I came across a 2005 Breedlove Masterclass Northwest steel string guitar with Myrtle wood sides and back and Sitka Spruce top. Of course I went for that one as well, it's on its way. So that's 3 guitars within one month. I think I need help.

Here are some pics of my Taurus and Bernabe guitars. The first 3 are the Taurus guitar and the second set of three are the Bernabe. They look similar in the pics but the Bernabe is made better and sounds much better.

I don't have the Breedlove guitar yet so here is a link to the ones in the listing. The figuring in the Myrtle wood is super nice.

I have an English Staffordshire bull terrier pup that has eaten too many smoked and dried pigs ears. We are also victims of GAS.

Guilty here too:

1969 - Martin N20 (signed by Willie Nelson and C.F. Martin)
Gibson Acoustic Robert Johnson Edition
1960's Fender Acoustic (my late Father's)
Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton
1959 Gibson Les Paul Reissue (2015)
..I have others like an Acoustic Yamaha that I let the kids learn on.

Thanks mep and those are nice guitars, Mike. I also have a 15 course Renaissance lute made by Dan Lankford and a German Lute Guitar I bought off of epay. I like early music. And a Gibson Les Paul clone from the 70's (not sure of the date). I might as well post pics of the rest of the family; lute, lute guitar, Yamaha classical and Gibson Les Paul.

Albert.......I was up to eight guitars in 2007. I am down to just three guitars now. Too many to care for, play, re-string, and keep humidity controlled.

The three I still own after slowly selling the guitars that were least played are:

Taylor 814ce
Guild D55
Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster

The five guitars that I sold are:

Taylor 810
Gibson SG
Gibson Les Paul Custom
Martin D13 Custom
Peavy Millennium Bass

Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster / Taylor 810 / Guild D55 / Marshall Mod Four Amp / Marshall 1960AV Speaker / Boss GT-6 Effects Processor

I only ever had three at one time. Even after 1.5 years of lessons I can't play worth a crap, so I sold everything years ago.
I never had any iconic guitars. I started out wanting to learn Bass and got an Aria Pro model. At the time they were getting popular. Gave up on that because it was hard to find a instructor and the amps were insane. I then switched to guitar. I can't remember all the exact ones I had, but I recall having a piece of crap Squire at one point. Eventually I got this high tech BC Rich. That was a strange one and in hind sight, poorly designed. It had 3 sets of pickups, which was all well and good, but aside from the standard volume and tone knobs, it had a top shelf locking bridge, and a top shelf locking whammy bar and it had about 9 flip switches on it! It looked like it had been attacked by an over-zealous engineer with a nail gun. One would have to put the switches in certain patterns to get the desired tones with the pickups and such as if it wasn't enough trouble just remembering notes. I don't know what possessed me to get that one.
My last electric guitar I had was a standard less expensive Ibanez, nice an simple with a whammy bar (which was standard by then). That one had the best action on it for being off the rack. It was my favorite and was a nice blue color. Not bad for a relatively inexpensive job.
I also went through an effects stage. I started out with a couple of pedals and then got into the fancy digital rack stuff with the multi-switch foot buttons and expression pedals. After 6 months of trying to figure out how that worked and not liking the sound, I went back to analog stomp boxes. I'm an analog guy all the way. ( I won't even drive a car with a digital dashboard to this day).
As for acoustics, I only remember two of the three I had. One was a Seagull brand and the other was an Esteban. The Esteban wasn't too bad, but the Seagull was better made.

I can't get used to the narrow neck on my electric guitar but it looks too good to sell. Maybe I'll try to play it again sometime.

I used to have an Ovation Celebrity acoustic guitar with a Vox amp. I just couldn't get used to the narrow neck or the round back so I sold them to a friend. They were stolen six months later when his house was broken into. I haven't recorded the serial numbers of my instruments yet for insurance reasons, I guess I better do that. I have an alarm system on the house but it doesn't take long to grab a guitar case and run.

The Seagull guitar is supposed to be quite good. That would have been a nice guitar.
