Hurricane Irma - uh oh

+1 - I started putting up the shutters this afternoon and will get some more done tomorrow. I waited too long last year (was not experienced and did not know how long it would take and was exhausted rushing to get them up).
 
We may be heading inland tomorrow. Being on the coast not safe with this monster storm.

I am a Miami Beach resident. In addition to that, my wife's family lives nearby in Key Biscayne. We are safely out. We had been traveling on vacation and simply chose to not come home due to the forecast. If you haven't been watching the news, the Miami evacuation has been a mixed bag. Gas shortages and canceled flights have left thousands of people trapped with no way to get out. The wind levels of this storm are going to easily exceed the building codes of the area. Anything built more than 25 years ago is going to be in serious danger. If 150 mph winds hit directly on Miami, is not going to be pretty.

I have many friends and loved ones still in the path of this storm. I will try to continue to report here on what's happening in my area. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Be safe.
 
Well just completed about everything one can do to prevent water from getting in due to a storm surge, wifes car and my truck are packed and we leave in the morning, for not any better conditions windwize, but headed to Ocala. Good luck to all. .

The latest has it moving further west with Naples potentially in the eye. If that is the case the Gulf Coast might take the brunt of this ever changing storm.
 
We left St Petersburg yesterday. Currently inland at my brother's place north of Tampa. We may head over to Orlando this morning.
 
My thoughts are with all you guys down south-east. Keep the audio equipment dry :peace:

Here is where it is at and projected this morning; skimmed along the north coast of Cuba. Hurricane Jose just behind it hitting the Caribbean and Barbuda later today; areas just flattened by Irma!

How is this for poor engineering: they cannot measure the speed of the hurricane winds in Cuba because the equipment used to measure the speed of the wind was damaged by the wind. :skeptical:
