i have heard of a fellow making Heil line source speaker (dipole) with a Tymphany LAT type bass array: https://www.parts-express.com/tymphany-lat250-linear-array-transducer--299-850
BoM was like $75K in total of which driver cost was $25K. All bespoke DIY.
Such a speaker would retail over $600K with normal markup!

Slate plates make a lot of sense. They have a lot of internal dampening. Stacore uses slate in their (passive) isolation platforms.
