I have just acquired a Bryston BDP-2 and I really like it. I haven't connected it to the internet yet as my network cable still has no ends. The guy I car pool to work with is the computer tech at the school and when he finds the time he said he will put the ends on. So I have only used the player with a few high res files I had on a thumb drive and a rip'd cd to Flac (which I just learned how to do using Sound Juicer in Linux). Music sounded great!

So once the player is connected to the internet, I can control it with Manic Moose on my pc in my office but I would like to do that in the listening room. I don't want to use a cell phone as I think the screen would be too small. And I don't even own a cell phone (yeah, I'm one of those guys). I am not a big fan of Apple either so it comes down to an Android tablet. But I don't know which one to get.

What do others use for their BDP-2 or BDP-1? I am a computer noob so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to install mPod (phone), or mPad (tablet). I don't know if there is an Android version. Control of the BDP-X players is Bryston's biggest weakness.

Man you got that right. I picked up a BCD-1 a year or so ago of course there was no remote. I contacted Bryston who directed me to a dealer close, well its 85 miles away for a price. Well I was not about to pay $350 dollars to play CD's. So I contacted Logitech Harmony (Logitech now owns Harmony) and asked to they have any remotes that can be coded with Bryston control codes. Sure enough they do. I picked up the Harmony 350 for $50.00 and controls my Bryston. I just checked the BDP-1, is in the Logitech data base so it should work for the BDP-2 as well. You would need to use the learn feature to acquire all the codes to make the BDP-2 totally function as it should.

Thanks, that's good to know. Once I have connected it to the internet, I am going to download the latest update for Manic Moose as I have an old version. Perhaps the newest version will work with Android. I should also contact Bryston and see what they recommend.

That looks good, I like the large screen.

I had my friend put the ends on the cable tonight so that I could connect the BDP-2 to the internet. After connecting to the manic moose on my pc, I updated the old version of mm S2.06 to the latest version of S2.22 which was just released within the past week. Everything seems to be working fine and music sounds great. I am even streaming Aardvark Blues FM internet radio as I type. I am loving this player!

The next thing is to buy a tablet to control it in my music room instead of from my office. And to start ripping my cd library of 400 cd's I tested a ripper program called Sound Juicer that only took about 5 min. to rip a CD to FLAC. It sounds very good as well. I even bought someones library of 350 cd's for $220 shipped so I'm going to busy!

Congrats Albert! The BDP-2 is a very nice player. I enjoyed one for a couple of years.

Thanks for the advice everyone but I decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7" tablet today. Considering my eyesight is not what it used to be, I found the larger size screen just worked better for me. The screen is not the highest resolution but for my application of using it to control the BDP-2 it works just fine. I am using the latest version of Manic Moose and it seems to work well with the Samsung tablet, all the info is clearly displayed.

As this is my first tablet, I am slowly figuring out how to use it but it is doing what I want so far. Another toy to play with. :D
