You're welcome. Stood behind Richard as he set up the Vandy 7's and Vandy amps. WOW. Sounded great!

What I'm seeing this year, is the manufacturers brought their big guns!

The hotel is VERY nice. Very modern. Great new restaurant. Gorgeous new lobby.

Mike, I am with you on this one. I have returned to horns after realizing that I have not been hearing the best sound quality in my home. The science and physics of sound reproduction favor horns, especially in the midrange where "we live".

Hiker - that's good to hear. What horns do you have? Amps? Putting my sad face on though, horns aren't popular here. In Europe and Asia, horns have really made a come back. Why not popular here? Looks? Prejudices (honky? aggressive?). They aren't on magazine covers (except this rare issue). Not enough places to hear them? Don't know. Horns do require a bit of effort. You can't just slap any old amp on them with bad AC, an aggressive source, bright cables and expect great results. But I find the challenge a lot of fun. I learned a lot about horns as they relate to power, cables, setup, etc. from the old guys in our Tampa club. They've been farting around with horns for decades and have shared their knowledge with me. Now those guys tell me I've got my AG's sounding in the "best system they've ever heard" category.

I have Klipsch Pladdium P-37F speakers powered by a McIntosh MC452 solid-state amplifier. I have learned that solid-state does a better job than tubes in controlling 'stiffer and quicker' diaphragm materials. To a large degree, horns have a stigma that is unfounded. The biggest factor, by far, in the degradation of sound quality is modulation distortion (especially high-frequency and amplitude distortions) and tractrix profiled horns have virtually eliminated these distortions compared to direct-radiating diaphragms.

Im looking at getting horns myself.It is a work in progress and based around the Linemagnetic A22..Custom 817 dual woofer Altec design 15 inch woofers.Tweeter will be Line Magnetic 597 A.Hope t see many similar speakers at the Guangzhou HIFI Show next month.
