hifishark.com - A search engine for second hand hifi

I have added lots of Danish and Swedish dealers (used and demo products) to the hifishark indexer.

I you know of dealers in US/Canada/UK/Australia (or anywhere else) that would be nice to index please let me know :-)

I would really really love to hear from you if you know a dealer or a marketplace that you think should be included into the search engine...

So subtle

The short answer is nothing, the long one too ....

The mission here is to help you find second hand gear more easily and for free. If you don't need or want this service then don't help out.

It's a cool link, and it's in my favorite top bar. I will do everything to make it even better if I can. :) TY

* Hope my sense of humor wasn't misinterpreted. ...Like it is often on the Internet, and to the point of getting me banned from some sites.
I believe that man along the way is losing his good sense of humor and is getting too serious.
...Must have some to do with his self-depreciation of his own existentialism.

Truthspinner - I am trying to setup a search agent on your site so that when new search results are found it will send me an email (checked once per day). I have been using 'Follow that page' successfully for audiomarkt for some time, however this is not working on your site. Presumably because the results table is populated through javascript? The list is not visible in the html code of the page and therefore changes are not captured. Could you let me know if there is a way to get this working (a way to get the results table visible on the html), or perhaps you are building in this functionality native to your site? Thanks

We do actually have a search agent functionality. However, computationally the functionality is a bit costly, so it is not yet publicly available.

When we do make it publicly available it will most likely depend on some kind of effort in return like, e.g., registration and a (very reasonable) number of posts on the forum.

Would you find such a scheme useful?

It has been a while since I posted anything in this thread. Meanwhile we have made quite substantial updates to Hifi Shark:

1. A New search engine that is hundreds of times faster.
2. Comodity pictures.
3. We inceeased the number of indexed site to about 105.
4. We update The index for a (growing) number of sites in near real time.

Wow, time passes quickly when you are having fun :)

I haven't reported back here for another long time, but I think you all deserve to know that the HifiShark search agent functionality is finally back!

The concept is called saved searches and allows registered user to 'store' any search that they complete. Such saved searches have two benefits:
1. They can be easily repeated by the press of a button.
2. They will be executed automatically once a day and the user will then receive a summary of all new findings by email.

Happy hunting!
Henrik

I almost forgot to mention that the base of indexed sites has grown to incorporate more than 150 sites...

How long does it take for items listed to appear on Hifi Shark?

I put my Hafler 9180 Amplifier up for sale on CL over the weekend and it does not show up in a USA Hafler 9180 search
