Hello from Norway

New member since yesterday.
I really started to get into music in my early teens (heavily influenced in taste by my older brother). From older classic rock to Metal, Slayer, Metallica, Kreator, Merciful Fate, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, Doors, just to mention a few favorites from my early years. Later teens I listened more Grunge, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. But electronica, rave etc also was quite popular, especially at parties, like The Prodigy. Had a period I also listened to electronica, house, and drumn base. The last 20 years I listen to a lot of stuff, as I need veriaty but prog rock is central in much of it. Rush, Procupine True, early Yes and the likes was favorites for many years, and still are. Some psychadelic and alternative is also quite interesting, like Erick, Legendary Pink Dots, Severed heads.

When it comes to hi fi gear, I have been swapping boxes for over 20 years, but it accelerated somewhat after getting my first naim amplifier ten years ago and the interest in hifi increased. Amps, have owned: Philips, Sony, Denon, NAD, Naim, Chapter, Audio-gd, several Accuphase. Speakers,: Infinity, B&W, Dali, Tannoy, Active ATC, Klipsch. Sources, Denon, Cambrige, Thorens, Larvry, Audio-gd, Accuphase, Empirical Audio.. Maybe I missed some, dosent matter.

At the moment I have an Accuphase E370 with ad50 riaa and dac50, PE2525 turntable, Klipch Heresy IV.
So thats me!

Just wanted to add that these days Im more interested in discovering new music than gear. Not new but if you are interested in prog I can recommend Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso and Magma. Some psychadelic and alternative are also quite interesting, like Erick, Legendary Pink Dots, Severed heads. If you are into experimental, check out fragmentmusic.co.uk

Welcome to the forum, thank you for joining.

Also, thank you for your recommendations, I’m looking forward to checking them out.

Welcome to Mike’s Universe,
Only In the last few days I’ve discovered Kari Bremnes and really liked what I heard, though I don’t understand a single word of Norwegian. 🤫

Welcome aboard, Loved my time in Norway.

Do you know where this is from?

Thanks all! I havent explored the catalogue of Kari Bremnes, but from what I have heard she has high quality audio productions and is often played at demoes at hifi shows. Other Norwegian musicians worth checking out are Jan Garbarek, Ane Brun, Jan Petter Molvær, Wobbler, Tusmørke, Motorpsycho. From jazz to prog, unsorted.

This might be of interest to you, though much is in Norwegian

Here is a spot most Tourists do not ever get to go
Thanks! I have never seen that, and had to google it. I know the place, Skåtøy (island). Every summer we, (me, my wife and kids) spend some time together with my father in law on his sailboat, sailing these waters. Maybe we will get the chance to see this troll this summer. :-)

We have a friend whose family has places in Oslo, Kristiansand, and right on the water facing the hospital in Kragero. (pardon the missing symbols) We got a boat ride thru hundreds of these Rock Islands with a house on it and got to eat lunch with local inhabitants. Fantastic journey. K-sand Zoo was also awesome.
