I sold my amg v12 turntable awhile back and now regret it since my second system is without analogue (digital into Air Tight ref 2001 preamp into Air Tight ATM 3011 mono amps driving TAD CR 1 mk ii speakers).

Was getting ready to buy another spiral groove (SG2) but having trouble getting the Centroid arm to match. I love my SG1.2 and how brilliant (and gracious) Allen Perkins is, but need to now consider alternatives. Will be using a benz LP-S. Maybe something different?

1. Brinkmann Bardo or Oasis with Abis SA1.2 tonearm. DD with rich tonearm for speed stability and Japanese style tech.

2. Lenco 75...e.g. PTP solid 9 or 12 with upgraded bearing. Maybe with arrow tonearm. Idler drive for bass and drive?

3. ?

Kronos 0.5 (to start and then go full blown Sparta) or go full blown Sparta out of the gate.

If you like the design of the Spiral Groove, I'd suggest you take a look at the Dr. Feickert tables. Don't let the price fool you, these tables are fully competitive with MUCH more expensive alternatives.

Have heard the Bardo, it's really good.

This isn't to bad.....Uses the VPI DD and platter with a more robust universal power supply. The table can accommodate two 12 inch arms.

+ 1. I respect & like the Tech Das AF3 a lot, but would take the Kronos Sparta (and for less dough).

If you are regretting selling the AMG v12, why not just get another v12? From what I've heard, it's a great match for the LP-S :)

New Spiral Groove Revolution with centroid!

I had an Abis AS1.2, IMHO not in the same league as the Brinkman I'd shoot for a better arm

I spoke to Allen about a month ago and he said the revolution is shipping. I used to own an sg1.1 and have been kicking myself for selling.

I owned two RPM-2 table/arms, have dealt with Allen for a number years (great support) and picked his brain over pretty good. Spiral Groove is the real deal and an endgame for those not wanting flavor of the month.

that said, deliveries of Revolution have stalled out for a few years now. good to hear he has product to ship.

Thanks everyone _ appreciate the input. I think I will stick with spiral groove sg2 if going with belt and bite bullet to find decent price centroid. Or try something different and pick up brinkmann direct drive and add tube power supply later (not sure which arm tho).

It did mate well with lp-s. I think spiral groove is a better table so sold it when I thought second system would be digital source only.

If you have not had an idler drive you should consider a Garrard or Lenco. I have a SME and a Garrard. Very happy with the Garrard.

Bardo and Sparta are my 2 favs- but the latter is 3x as expensive.

I have a 10.5 soon to be installed on my Bardo.

Oh, I can understand that :) Just noticed that there is a SG-2 with Centroid new in box for around $15k on the A'gon at a dealer in Calif. Sounds like a smoking deal :)
