Hearing loss issue

My father in law had serious hearing loss from being a medic on the front lines in WWII. He died a horrible death from Demensia after beating cancer 3 times.

From the National Institute of Health:

Sounds of less than 75 decibels, even after long exposure, are unlikely to cause hearing loss. However, long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The louder the sound, the shorter the amount of time it takes for Noise Induced Hearing Loss NIHL to happen.

I hold the volume remote in my right and this in my left hand at times.

Hate to see articles like this. I am 73 and started having tinnitus in one ear several years ago. I have also done speaker testing and noticed tones drop off at or about 12K. I still listen to a lot of music and enjoy it. But I am not chase the muse like I once did( seeking the ultimate in audio reproduction within financial limits)
