Nikhil.......Thank you. That is a great video. I'm not sure I would be willing to take the risk, but I imagine the experience is quite thrilling.
 
I cross country skied on a lake in the Adirondacks in late winter. The ice was still quite thick but was beginning to crack from the warmer temperatures. It made a similar sound except it was very low pitched and booming. Kind of disconcerting.

Thanks Dan! The nearest ice in my neck of the woods is the ice in our freezers!

Ken, watch the drone camera shot at the 2:00 mark - you can see the ice cracks forming right underneath!
