HDMI

James.......Thanks for the link to the article. Not surprising.

I hold the same apprehension with PCM versus DSD. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors introduced to support DSD over PCM as the industry promotes its latest darling. As the article pointed out, "The truth is bad for commerce."

Audioquest cables seem to be easiest for the retail charmer to sell to package charged walk-ins. Probably because the are easy to stock carrying a bang margin to boot.

A good HDMI cable will make subtle differences which are more noticeable by length and relate to diminishing reconstitution of the waterfall effect, but it doesn't look like that graph.

So it was unsanctioned marketing material. Unfortunate for Audioquest but it does not change my opinion about the brand.

When I think about Audioquest, I think about a car salesman trying to upsell you Ming treatment options for your new car.

I get the same feeling from dealers that sell Transparent, MIT, Nordost and Shunyata cables.

Steve/jap - have you guys ever sat through the Nordost demo at shows? It's really interesting. You reach a point of diminishing returns for sure. They also do a demo with Nordost sort fut cones. Privately they tell you the biggest difference they make is with digital devices because micro vibrations can affect jitter and other things associated with digital playback.

As for cables, I'm completely smitten with Siltech.

Haven't been to an audio show.

As for cables, I'm completely smitten with the new Audience Au24 SX.

Of the list mentioned above, Nordost has a credible reputation. Siltech is as good as it gets IMO, however like Nordost, brand integrity has suffered due to Chinese counterfeiting.

Most of the counterfeit cables from China that I've seen are quite easy to spot when visually compared to the legitimate products.
