Have you noticed in 2026 that it appears an unusual amount of new speakers are being introduced? Even Audio by Van Alstine now has a speaker, all the years I've been familiar they've never gone that direction. There are others I don't want to make a case I want to see if anyone else has noticed.

Yes, it seems the sheer number and different types of speakers being offered for sale has accelerated. I see a lot of new offerings in field coil loudspeakers, single driver loudspeakers, multiway horn loudspeakers, active loudspeakers, electrostatic loudspeakers, planar magnetic loudspeakers and a proliferation of box stuffers building unique and beautiful cabinets housing OEM drivers that are modified or otherwise selected. That is, if you believe the marketing. Yes, that sure looks like a stock SEAS driver in that beautiful box. It’s mind-boggling really. Along with the sheer number of offerings is an apparent escalation in pricing!

Established makers are filling in gaps in their lines, so there seems to be an offering for everyone at every price point imaginable.

Definitely seems like lots of new speakers hitting the market on a daily basis. I agree about SEAS driver based speakers costing nearly $90,000 as completely bonkers. The box is pretty though. LOL. Hey, apparently audio salesman are suddenly brilliant speaker designers with PartsXpress on speed dial. Too bad the one who kept the facade alive has passed away. Oh well...

Some of the new offerings are quite interesting. Some are ugly as a mud fence. Technology in speaker design continues to evolve as designers (real designers) have new tools at their disposal. IMHO, Magico leads in this category.

Magico is a fine product but they are one who have certainly taken up the price. The A3 & 5 has gone up $10k since they hit the market.
