Gryphon Audio. Probably the best gear in town?

I played it alot in mi yung un days, long before liking Gryphons and its more popular internationally than baseball ... :)

No apogee's currently , but i do currently run a Ribbon/Hybrid similar to the Gen 1 and i have had them in both configurations (traced vs solid foil) I'm also very familiar with the apogee sound (all models) but have never heard the updated stuff from Henk or Graz..

Btw i have been following you guys (on WBF) world trek and re-discover of apps and line source speakers in general, once exposed no way to listen to or live with the dynamic compression of point source speakers, your misery begins.

IMO , Horns come pretty close , but never with the same natural Timbre.. I'm also pretty surprised to see apps being run with toobs thou and last but not least, I'm a big T20 fan over test matches , who has time for test matches .. :)

Regards

Lol. I agree though, for me real estate in central London is the primary consideration, but if I had the space, I would live forever with FRs. If I had more surplus, Grands. I heard Grands and realized this was the end-game. My next favorite is Trios with bass horns, but not the same tone as a pure apogee ribbon. With further surplus should add Western Electric 16A with GIP drivers on their long wall. In short, I wish had the money to do all this

Welcome to the forum Mr. Rasmussen, thank you so much for joining. It's an honor to see you here.

Welcome to Gryphon Audio Designs. Looking forward to hearing more about your exciting new products.

Dear Mr. Rasmussen

As the author of the note that you have Referenced , perhaps it is appropriate to answer your thoughtful note with some points not in an antagonistic fashion but perhaps best viewed as an alternative view.

1. The basic underlying premise behind the note was one of .....respect. I am not alone amongst audiophiles in expressing the highest degree of admiration for the sonic and build characteristics of Gryphon products . If there was a tone of frustration , it was simply to reflect an inability to understand why the product was not be available in North America.

2. You are quite right, there is too much box shipping and rampant discounting in the industry. Audiophiles are frequently purchasing equipment on a sight-unseen basis because Dealers and Distributors are not stocking or demonstrating product. Nevertheless , there are at least some Dealers who are prepared to go the extra mile to support a line in this large market.

3. Despite your best efforts and those of others , the problem is that "leakage" does occur - people have Gryphon equipment bought in NA a few years ago, people move to NA from abroad and require a voltage conversion, etc. For example , there is currently a seller of a pair of Mephisto amps in the US. They came from Andy Payor at Rockport Speakers who I believe bought directly from Gryphon for demo purposes. So while you may wish to safeguard country restrictions, the fact is - in this day and age , it's all but impossible.

4. You might be surprised (or not) by the amount of Gryphon equipment in your current lines that is in fact already in NA. After all, people with the means to purchase your equipment are also likely to travel extensively to countries where you have Partners . They may even have second or third homes there and are therefore in a position to make direct contact with a local Gryphon Partner. Would you not consider supporting customers in that fashion who chose to bring the equipment back to NA? Especially considering the fact that you have Service Facilities here?

I truly look forward to seeing Gryphon establish a formal presence in NA in the near future and wish you much (continued) success

Shodhan

Great to see you at this forum Mr Rasmussen. I have always been a huge fan of your products,

I would of loved to have owned a Gryphon system. Especially your amplifiers. The main reason why I never went with The Gryphon was due to the poor importer/dealer representation for The Gryphon in Australia.

So I ended up choosing another brand that was carried by a dealer that was fair, could be trusted and who has excellent service capability and response. As you pointed out, choosing the right dealer to support your product properly is paramount to establishing localised brand reputation, good CRM, service/support and repeat business.

In all honesty, I do not believe you have the right dealer representation in Australia either, and it would not hurt to establish an entirely new business synergy with someone else.

I am a fan of Mr. Rasmussen and his team's art. Their products has a soul. Literally. You'll know it when you have one. I am now using Sonata Allegro + Antileon Signature and proudly upgrading to the king, Mephisto.

With Gryphon products everything in the products ecosystem is well thought and designed.

Totally agree, great products & a very realistic & likable sound

I'm not sure I could handle the big dragon! But I would sure try. [emoji6] In all seriousness, I think they truly need a world class U.S. distributor.

Time to step up Mike

Becoming the US distributor for a company with gear priced like Gryphon would require a very substantial investment. Mike might have to dip into his retirement funds! ;)
