Hi,

I have receive some questions about GRIMM CC1 :
Could you describe the improvement in sound?
Does the clock work for SACD?
What cabling are you using to connect the units?
Are there any issues?

I'm try to answer quickly :

Could you describe the improvement in sound?
I describe it, but not now...it's near midnight in France.

Does the clock work for SACD?
No, it doesn't work for SACD.

I have few SACD and Grimm CC1 with DAC 360S(CD only) is better than SACD. It's not true Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - Girl from Ipanema in many versions.
CD made in Japan
CD SHM CD made in Japan
SACD made in Japan

For the other CD and SACD, CD with Clock + 360S is better than SACD.

What cabling are you using to connect the units?
I use Van Den Hul for digital RCA and Furutech Lineflux for AES.

I have pro cable for the clock, but it's not musical, very analytic. So I take a video cable, more musical.

I don't have time to test digital cable for the clock, but I'm very surprise because with different cables for digital clock(BNC), I have many different sound.

Next episode tomorrow, I'm going to sleep now.

I have listen SA7S1 without Grimm CC1 and without DAC 360S.

I have do an error : Clock works fine with SACD, but be careful !!! (Please, see the end)

The sound is very poor.
I listen it immediately.
I listen 3 songs on 3 different CD.

I add the Grimm CC1, always without my DAC 360S.

With Grmm CC1, music are in 3 dimensions. The voices are beautiful and are more articulated.
Timing was tighter, imaging more focused, and definition improved.

With SACD, there are more dynamics and punch, more bass and voices are more better than SA7S1 only...

FOR :
- improved sound of your CD Player and SACD
- price...less expensive than ESOTERIC or DCS clock.

AGAINST :
- doesn't accept SACD if you use external DAC. Because the digital output of SA7S1 works only for CD.

NOTE :
- with the DAC 360S, differencies are very few.

I have compare Accuphase DP 550 and SA7S1 with DAC 360S (without GRIMM CC1, I haven't bought it before this head to head)...abd it's very difficult to decide which it is better...Accuphase is more analogic, SA7S1 with DAC 360S is more transparent and detailed.

In addition too with DAC 360S, Grimm CC1, Marantz SA7S1, the 3 dimensions in music is beautiful...

I have two pair XLR of Furutech Lineflux : one for listening SACD with SA7S1 and one for the DAC N°360S....so I can easily compare the two with and without Grimm CC1.

Hope this is help someone.

CD test are :

Ed Sheeran : X
Mariah Carey : The ones (SACD)
Marvin Gaye : Let's going on (MOFI)
Groover Washington : Winelight
George Benson : Give me the night

Good choice....for the clock and SA7S1

If you can, find a ML N° 360S, music is more defined and accuracy.

Some people says, two clocks in series is the best...
So I don't know if I try Mutec Smartclock with Reclocker and without USB...???

Thanks so much for your response about the Grimm CC1.

So, you like the SA7S1 better with the CC1 (alone) on both CD and SACD. I'm curious. What sampling rate does the CC1 clock show on lights on the front panel when playing SACDs?

I understand the CC1 won't work on SACD using both a DAC and the SA7S1 because the digital output only works for CD.

Interestingly, I e-mailed the distributor in the USA about the CC1. They have no CC1s in the USA. They say they think the CC1 is no longer in production.

I have choice 176 khz for CD and SACD.
I know, everybody tells me, it's not possible to choice 176 khz for SACD. I'm agree with everybody.
But, thanks to you, I have do some tests with clock in SACD. I have forget this point. With Mariah Carey, there is more bass, more accuracy, voice is beautiful. The difference was so big, that I can say it is not a dream.
If DPOD4 can confirm that .....or not (? ) .....with SACD....Thank you.

CC1 is always made in Holland I think. Pro store sells it for recording studio.
