On classical music - especially opera - it was out of this world good.
Regarding the Goldmund active speakers, there are now 12 different models ranging from $6K to $600K. All models use the same active Telos amplification (an amp and separate dac for each driver along with internal dsp processing), and can be run wireless (with supplied dongle) or with a digital cable input from a hub or a processor.
One of the coolest systems is any of the Aurender servers and a usb dongle (supplied with the speakers) that communicates wirelessly with the speakers. The Aurender folks did an embedded volume control in the Aurender Ipad app specifically for the active/wireless Goldmund speakers.
The entire system consists of the Aurender >>>> Active/wireless any model Goldmund speakers >>>>and an Ipad....nothing else, no cables except the power cords.
You can also just stick the usb dongle into any computer, use the volume control from your computer and run the entire system from your computer.
We just installed a pair of $600K Goldmund Apologue Anniversary in Soho last week using this set up and we have another Apologue system being installed in Houston, Tx in February also with an Aurender driving the system.

That is pretty cool. Must be very popular among non-audiophiles.
It depends, listening position and repertoire were very critical.I would love to have heard this room. How was it?
Every time i look at the rat's nest of snaking cables connecting my system i think about jow cool this would be!Regarding the Goldmund active speakers, there are now 12 different models ranging from $6K to $600K. That Soho location would have been better served by the Anatta model for such a small room.
That guy would be like me in case I would have the same fortune.... Wow what a lucky man!!Norman, I think that you would have to hear it first before drawing that conclusion. I think you might be surprised. Actually the pic makes the room look smaller than it is. The wall the speakers are on is 22' wide and the room is 26' long but opens up to an open area that you cannot see on the pic. The windows have a view of the entire NYC and this is a loft penthouse. Also with one push of a button the front back and side windows have automatic drop down acoustically treated transparent shades that dampen the room considerably. Although, like me, this customer likes the view while he listens. The configuration using the internal dsp has been adjusted to listen with the shades up.
The Apologues replaced Epilogues and six Telos 25000's that the customer had lived with for 5+ years in this room. It sounded GREAT with the Epilogues/2500's and the Apologue took it to an entirely different level. Most importantly the customer loved both his Epilogues and now his Apologues. He listens to it on the average of 5-6 hours every day and never ever gets tired of it. He has Ferraris/Bentleys, race horses, multiple residences and always says take all that away, but don't touch my system.
Understood. I guess the loft also brings in a lot of height/volume and it may indeed be bigger than I think. One point I overlooked is that Proteus setup can also compensate for a lot, so widens the range of what can work in a given space. Most importantly, th fellow is happy so that is what really matters.Norman, I think that you would have to hear it first before drawing that conclusion. I think you might be surprised.
