I arrive to the store this morning and see this:

It apparently was delivered last night. So it sat outside all night and this morning and nobody stole it.

Guess even thieves don’t want PS Audio. LOL.

Always wondered, what happens if this gets stolen? (provided it has been insured)

Did you get a compensation or is it considered "delivered" and FedEx will show you a pic as proof?

In EU they have to presonally deliver or leave it at Fedex/UPS/DHL etc drop off point where you go to collect it.

Here is the power supply unit for my MSB Premier DAC. I managed to get the DAC section diverted to the FEDEx office for my signature pick up, but here was my box on a semi busy street. I opened the garage door on the way in, but I stopped to take a pic. Seems like he could have at least put it flat further in towards the door or wall. It’s like he was advertising it. I might have broken a few speed limits once I figured out where it was.

I expected to pick it up with the DAC at FedEx. I asked the gentleman, where is the other box? He said let me track it for you. “Oh, it was delivered today”.

For obvious reasons, my actual shipping address is at a UPS Store. My wife and I both work, and no one is there to sign for, nor receive, packages.
 
These kind of deliveries are happening sometimes by me, they simply drop it in the garden. Not only by Fedex, but all the delivery services are a disaster. This is the reason I let my Parcels deliver at work address so there is always anybody there to accept it.

But what happend this year with Fedex wasn't fun anymore. The Chinese shop, made a mistake and did not send the bill for taxes and shipping to me: the billing address, but to my employer the shipping address. So my employer got the bill, reminders and last reminders and I wasn't able to fix. Calling is impossible, for contact you need to register first at Fedex and the reply takes 14 days.

Because all these issues, and the complicated way to contact them let me decide to do never ever business with Fedex.
 
I had a work delivery address for many years, like you. Very enjoyable to have boxes turn up on your desk.

The new job makes that a risky proposition, although the increased pay (and empty nest syndrome) have allowed some nice pre-retirement purchases (MSB stack)

The alternative is a parcel box. The delivery boy can put it inside and the box is protected against rain and theft. Here perfect ones from my country, I bet your country does also have many companies making these

Thanks @NewAlkyogre those are nice boxes. My son is studying in Sweden, and learned to set his delivery location, as the boxes can’t come to his student housing.

My upcoming solution is to retire at the end of the year, and start manning the home delivery. I might look into one of those parcel boxes at that point.
 
Yikes - I cringe whenever I order something and find out that it will be carried by Fedex or UPS. During the pandemic, USPS was even worse. I feel for shippers. What good options do they really have?

Fedex insurance only covers damage (by them, and if you can prove it) or if they lose the package while in their possession. As a shipper, I always state 'direct signature' which lets me off the hook if a porch pirate takes it.

So much is dependent on your local service. In my case FedEx just plain sucks locally, UPS hands down much better
 
FedEx had a rather large shipment (digital piano) that was being sent to me, Signature Required on the package. I was out for most of the day and the FedEx driver leaves it at my door front, decided to state that I signed for it, and took off. All caught on my Nest doorbell camera.

Downhill service. UPS is slightly but not that much better. Things have gone downhill from several years ago.
 
In my area UPS is better for shipping items but it's more expensive than Fedex. Possibly due to it being one of those UPS stores, not actual UPS. They do good service though.

It really seems to be a reflection of customer service in general, some employees just don't care.
 
I learned the hard way with a couple of expensive wine allocations that delivering to home addresses can cause issues. I started having anything of value shipped to my office, and I've found my deliveries always get there early in the morning. .. which is a good thing for wine in South Florida.
