Going Mono?

Hi everyone.

I have CH C1.2, L1 ,M1.1 stereo ,X1 with dual board driving Kharma Exqusite Midi 3.0.Cabling is a mix of CH Argento and Kubala Sosna Eletion. My dealer says there will be coming a mint m1.1 and i sould buy it and make it mono BUT! use it in biamp mode. I am mostly after deep and wide soundstage. Do you think it will make it better ? After all new amp means new stand,new cables etc. Worth it type of investment?

How big is your room. You need a fairly large room to really realize the benefits of monos.
 
If you can afford it, go for it is my opinion.

I have had two medium sized rooms and the benefit of monos to the sound stage and punch of the system (from more transformer headroom?) has been consistent with three brands of amplifiers.

Only you can decide if the extra cost is worth the view.

Can you demo the second amp? That would be best to answer your question.

I would do my best to have a home demo.But before i would like to hear from your experiences. If it is nothing about soundstage improvement but more power then i do not need to make a demo. Thanks

Of course, every system and room adds numerous variables. In my experience, the benefits I heard in more channel separation and overall SQ came largely from having two different power supplies / amplifier sections. I can’t say the extra power was the key as I think that is more dependent on what amp you are starting with and your speakers sensitivity to extra ‘power’. In my situation, I had plenty of power in the stereo amp I replaced.

Remember, even some stereo amplifiers are really two mono amps in one chassis. Moving from an amp with that design to separate mono blocks may not provide much of an uptick.
 
more power is better dynamics, control, resolution etc, im about to do add another Burmester 218 to my system for this reason so I say go for it
