Go Leafs Go

it has been a while since a canadian team won the stanley cup (montreal 1993). so, it would be "good" if a team from canada did win the cup this year.

notwithstanding, i am rooting for the pens (whose captain and the best player in the league is canadian)

I wasn’t born yet....and I’m old. Since the Tampa Bay Lightning invited me under their “Rink of Dreams” program to practice with them, be their guest in a private box for the game that night, get a free jersey, etc ALL FOR FREE and also go back under their Lightning Made program to play at Amelia Arena with other old farts and be their guest at the game - multiple times and do the same for my Son, I’m no longer a Leafs fan.

When my daughter was about 3 or 4, Hedman was a rookie and we went to a game. During warm up Hedman asked me if he could lift her over the side glass and put her on the bench. All the players came up and pretender to squirt her with the Gatorade bottles and they gave her pucks and all kinds of stuff. She hasn’t forgotten it. Total class act organization with the BEST owner in sports. Did you know that every September he FULLY outfits any under 10 who wants it, with full equipment AND pays for a year for them to learn hockey? Guess who’s the happiest guy in the rink that day? Yup, the owner. And retired players are there sizing the kids. They have thousands of sticks, gloves, skates, pads, etc. Even a Lightning bag is free. Awesome!

The Leafs would give you a wedgie and throw you in the locker for even thinking of such ideas.

GO BOLTS!

Given who my golf partner is, maybe I should be a Habs fan. Nah....can’t go there!

that was a low blow Mike and to think, they're plenty on here older that I !!

Growing up #9 'Mr Hockey' was my boyhood idol, best of his generation and when it comes to 'toughness' there has never been another like him.

LOL.

I saw that scrum the other day with a player named Wilson. People were flipping out. I just laughed....that ain’t nothing compared to hockey in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

i remember seeing mr hockey play a number of times with his two sons, mark and marty, for the WHL aeros. they won two consecutive league championships. he was 46 at the time ...that pretty much set the standard for "toughness" !!
