LOL, 58 degrees and the heat is on, you Floridians.
Although our current weather is not typical it is -1 F as I type with a wind chill of -8. But being from Maine you probably have felt that before.

Yup. 70 and cranky.
I needed long pants and 2 long sleeve shirts for my walk this morning.
When we lived in Maine 53 degrees was my favorite temp to go out for a run in shorts and short sleeve T shirt.
Maine is one of my favorite states East of the 'Big Muddy'. I snowmobiled for 20 years throughout the Moosehead Lake region.

It is currently 3 degrees here. When the wind picks up it will feel a whole lot lower. In a couple days it should warm a bit

I lived on an island in Casco Bay, Maine for 5 years. During the winter it was not unusual to have the air temp be -20 degrees with a 40-50 mph wind, that is cold.
In the area of -80 degrees. I don't care where you live, thats cold.
I'm sure Dave has felt some negative temps with strong winds on Moosehead.
Donna and I moved to Florida in 1985 after 15 years in Maine. We felt if we didn't like Fl. we would move to Boston. Great, big/small city.
We decided warm was just fine with us.

Seattle is perfect tube country. Not too hot. Not to cold, accept last week it was 15 degree. I only have about a week out of the year I wont run my stereo.

I find it odd how no one opens windows in Florida. We were visiting my mother in law this winter. It was 68 to 74 most days and nights. She has all the windows closed and runs the AC. At night we got her to open the doors to let the fresh air in.

We open our windows, BUT ! it all depends on the time of year and the humidity. Like at the moment, its 64degress and 74%. A little sticky.

The only window in my listening room is behind an acoustic panel and covered with cloth for the appearance from the outside.
If it was that easy I would certainly do that.
Plus it could be quite humid.
If the house is cool and the heat doesn't need to be on I set the fans to auto and pull the cool air into the room. This doesn't always work though.

I have not opened the windows once since being here in Wichita. Either both furnaces are heating or both ACs are cooling .

I just looked at the weather here. Its 67 degrees and 93% humidity. You open the door and get slapped with a wall of moisture. Go figure.

Not a day to open windows or our the huge 3 8' sliding doors going out to the screen in pool lanai. To much humidity and that humidity doesn't work well with electronics, paintwork, art or our furniture not to mention, the introduction of mildew and mold. Maintaining a relatively constant temperature, even if it means turning down the thermostat a little. The home we bought this past March has a Humidity sensing & managing thermostat/ Took a while to get used to it and reading the command screen correctly, like; why is the AC running when the system is set at 76 degrees, found out it was the humidity control kicking in to lower the humidity set point it detected.
Brad, I love the coast line of Maine, one of my favorites of N America. As for Moosehead Lake, superb beauty, whether winter cold or summer warmth !

About the only places in Maine I'm familiar with from my 2 week visit back in 1993, are Portland, BoothBay Harbor, Ogunquit , Kennebunkport, York for pictures of the lighthouses and Freeport to hit the LL Bean store. And I know there were more towns as we landed in Boston and drove up the coast. We took an offer from American Airlines at the time, fly into two cities with the same names, within 30 days and get the other fair 50% off, so we did Portland Me and Portland Oregon. Maine was so pretty, but I did overdose on Lobster ( and their twin specials). I mean breakfast, lunch and dinner was a little much ( richness).
Chris, as I'm sure Brad will point out, there is so much to see along the Maine coast It can't be done in a week alone ! Buddy of mine has a summer camp outside of Damariscotta and if you're an Oyster lover........some of the best !
As for Moosehead Lake (again), it and Crater Lake in Oregon are two of the most beautiful bodies of water in America IMO.
