Do you believe that Devialet is an industry game changer and other HiFi manufactures will in essence Xerox the concept in to their future systems?

The Devialet seems rather impressive and light years ahead.

Yes. The ADH technology, combined with its great sound, DAC, KILLER phono stage, SAM, FPGA technology (they added power and improve sonics by just a firmware update), the remote, it's size, programmable inputs and more make it a game changer IMO.

Only when I see companies like Vitus, Boulder and Gryphon dump Class A for pancake-size Class D, or ADHD or whatever it is :D...and I don't think that's gonna happen soon ;).

I really like Devialet's approach to Hi-Fi design. It's innovative, refreshing, and interesting.

So the question is, will their products serve as the kinda catalyst that'll change the face of the industry? I have no clue. That said, given the direction that consumer electronics is heading, I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of other manufacturers emulate Devialet's approach to hi-fi solutions.

It's class AHD remember, not class D and to my ears, sounds like class A with tight bass.

They also have tens of millions of dollars behind them for R&D and more.....they aren't a one man shop.

I had not considered that...hmmm...a relationship with Apple. What a way to go global! That would mean, great customer service on so many levels and these devices are physically gorgeous. If I was not so invested with McIntosh. This would be a hands down audio choice. Though... perhaps a 3rd audio system is in my future
:crackedout:

Not until it gets some tubes in it. :snicker:

Great point. I love my tube system too! Mike, because the unit is so crazy flexible. Can you tie in say, a tube preamp so you can take advantage of both the Devialet and tubes?

Even if you could add a piece, like a separate pre, that takes away what the Dev is all about. Which I think is an all-in-one piece of gear. A one box solution.

No, but it has a preout option if you want to use a tube amp. Joe has done this with great success he said.

If it was an Apple product, the Dev would have to fit into an iPhone case. Besides that, Apple has demonstrated they are not into the commercialization/sales of high-end music let alone high-end hardware.

I think it is important to note that whilst many famous brand-names are familiar to audiophiles , they are in reality , tiny companies that would qualify as micro-caps under most definitions. Even the Group that owns McIntosh, Sonus , Wadia is a flea in corporate terms. So as far as mounting a challenge to Devialet is concerned, I am sure it will come. The Wadia Intuition is one attempt. But - and this a big but - Devialet is well-funded and its investors include Bernard Arnaud , the Chairman of LVMH with a $40 Billion net worth. It would take serious bucks to mount a significant challenge against a company that has effectively , pretty unlimited R&D spending budgets.

ABSOLUTELY!

It is a game changer in my mind. Is it perfect? No, nothing really is perfect, but I love what I am hearing. If I use it straight up or through my ART monos, Pass XA60.5's, Jolida, or any other amp so far, it's absolutely wonderful - clean and clear in a great way. The DAC is outstanding and the whole package is super quiet, with black backgrounds and pinpoint imaging. While I love my GAT, the Devialet as a DAC/preamp is soooo good, I have not used my GAT since getting the D400.

Apple isn't that interested in High End. But I could easily see a Samsung or Sony especially for their TV and HT lines.

Yeah apple would never buy into this or Beats ....

Apple would not be interested in the "hi-end" apple would be interested in the IP and the concept, something to match their 15K watches and streaming, "Lifestyle"

Anyone exposed to Devialet, well , for more than an hr, will see more than the sound, as a matter of fact, forget the sound, it's the concept that gets you, non audiophiles get it, get it big, i see unlimited potential in what this unit and Devialet as a company can do, this is way beyond hearing images jumping out the backwall from some Neophyte wanna be reviewer, shadow boxing in the dark....

Pure genius, the French haven't delivered like this since the french letter ....

Regards....

Not unlimited. LVMH guy and 3 other angels funded them to the tune of €40m...Not sure how much they are willing to plunge into the affair. Also they developed the tech before that funding round. BTW, a lot of that capital goes into marketing...maybe too much as they dont seem to be able to deliver on the production side for the Phantom yet, with premium local dealers still waiting for even a single demo unit.

Others I know in the high-end are making plans...the game is far from over. LoL
Devialet is a welcome addition to the scene though...

I do agree that most in the high end, are NANO-caps.
