Fugly CD player

But Rodney Dangerfield is dead, who the hell else would buy that turd ?

Not sure on the spinner :).... I would not. I assume people who have the other pieces would be interested in it to complete the setup.

However I would be interested in the pre-amp. I really liked the MA252 when I had one and it sold pretty much immediately when I put it on the market. Since they keep adding models to the lineup they must be popular. :P

I will say they look a whole lot better in person then any of them look in the ads and photos. (not sure the spinner will though :D)

The look of McIntosh gear is all over the place and has been for years. This series of gear that looks like countertop toaster ovens is really a trip down a dirt road.

Perhaps McIntosh received their industrial design inspiration for the MCD85 from the Fiat Multipla.

:D
I have a friend who has one he likes a lot.
I used to play with him and the car and he always told me that when he uses it he is inside and he doesn't see the shape. :congrats::popcorn:

About Mackintosh; urgently needs a new designer!

I see the slot for the bread, but wonder which knob controls the cook time :doubtful:

This might just be the ugliest CD player I’ve ever seen. The new McIntosh MCD85

I wish there was a “Not Like” button... definitely fugly.

You guys are mean :D...

Honestly though, I bet it will be fairly popular for McIntosh. People with a MA252, MA352, or the C8 might be wanting one.

But honestly, the true ugliest thing they make is this monstrosity:

Not my cup of tea but as Randy says, they must have feedback from some group that says they like this design. I am thinking it is in Asia???

Sad with the computer tray making it even worse. Especially after the sweet looking baby headphone amp release

My parents taught me to keep negative opinions to myself. But, one has to wonder who would approve such an ugly looking component. Furthermore, while there is always a buyer, I can’t imagine showcasing this CD player in one’s stereo rack. :disbelief:

I'd need to see it in person, but I may be the only one here that doesn't think it's that bad.

But that's just me. There are some manufacturers whose gear makes my eyes gag; I couldn't own it no matter how good it sounded... but this same gear is considered beautiful and drooled over by many audio enthusiasts.
