Hi all,

I just bought and should receive this week a pair of Nagra VPA's monoblocks using 845 valves. (class A, 50 watts) to replace my Coda TSX.
I heard them driving some Living Voice (IBX RW) and it was unbelievable how beautiful it was!!

I feel like selling the 802's to get the top range Living Voice (OBX RW- in Macassar Ebony they are also stunning)

Am I about to do a great mistake?
What do you think?

Thanks for answering.

IMHO I think you are right on track. The OBX is so musical speakers and with the Nagra you will be in heaven. Go for it.

I have never heard them, but the reviews are stellar. Your 845 amps should be a great match with the OBX-RW's efficiency.

Do you know what brand of tubes comes with your new amps?

"Let's conclude: These speakers have a set of extraordinary qualities. There's a life-enhancing richness, a depth and fullness of timbre. There's succulence, vibrancy and opulence to the tonal colours; a physicality of texture and a density of passion that in my experience is unprecedented. If you care about music and want a speaker to take you to a palm-fringed Cabana on your desert island, I'd recommend the OBX-RW. From my vantage point, it's the most desirable speaker available today. I say that without apologies, caveats, disclaimers, quibbles, or even the false glow of first acquaintance. I say it only as a music junkie trying to express what I've found. It's a remarkable achievement and listening to my system with the winter nights closing in, I just can't believe how lucky I am."

Thanks Annapolis, Paul and Mike for taking time to answer.
I heard the combination VPA's IBX and the match was perfect.
I was listening to "Rite of Spring" (Dorati and Cleveland ?) and closing my eyes, I felt REALLY like being in the 10th row of Montpellier concert hall.I was really an emotionnal shock.
A week later I can't take this feeling out of my mind!
It was probably the best experience I had since many years.
The former one I remember was, TT Verdier Shindo mod, Shindo Montbrison and Shindo 300B, Tannoy's (I don't remember which ones) (but in fact nothing really to compare because with the Shindo's it was chamber music and with the Nagra's it was explosive symphonic music!
I will tell if/when I jump...

Best regards,

@Mike,

The actual tubes are SHU GUANG B.
I will probably swap in the future for Nagra's but the seller told me that the Shu Guang were great.

Best

Hi All,

I jumped and received this morning my new LV in ebony macassar.
First, they are stunning!
Second the sound is breath taking even if they are unripe.
I sold the 802s and got a loaned pair of IBX-RW meanwhile the OBX would arrive.
In one week, I became highly addicted to the IBX-RW.
The OBX go further in almost all criterias.

I will try to post some pictures this week end!

Best regards,

Hi Mike,

I will do my best!
BTW I bought from Nagra a quartet of 845 .
They are some severely selected Golden Dragon Premium 845 graphite plate. (I keep them as a spare as the actual ones sound terrific)

Best,
