Since Mike complained about not enough music posts, I'll start one :) These albums are the best I've heard in 2014- and are not audiophile Chesky BS.

Damon Albarn- Everyday Robots
Todd Terje- It's Album Time
Real Estate- Atlas
The War on Drugs- Lost in a Dream
St. Vincent- St. Vincent

The War on Drugs is album of the year imo.

Enjoy,

KeithR

Thanks for the suggestions. What do you find wrong with Chesky's offerings? I'm sincerely asking because everything I have from them is excellent.

now this is a great thread. i dont know much about any new music. im still buying up the classics ive loved and lost in the past. but i need some ideas on newer artists.

I buy nothing but new music. I own hundreds of recordings all made post year 2000.

I'm with you. I won't say I buy no older music but it is probably 80% newer. I already listened to most of the old stuff ad nauseam.

These aren't all new artists but they may be new to me or newer albums.

Angus & Julia Stone self titled. (???)
Angus & Julia Stone - Down The Way (???)

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Songs From The Movies (singer songwriter)

Shelby Lynne - Revelation Road Deluxe Version (not really country)

Matraca Berg - The Dreaming Field (new Folk?)

Sam Brookes - Kairos (singer songwriter)

Gina Chavez - Up Rooted (???)

Govi- Pure at Heart (guitar)

John Hinson - Thursday Empire (piano)

Sara Jarosz - Follow Me Down (???)

Lone Bellow - Self Titled (semi-country)

The National - High Violet Expanded Edition (alt rock?)

La Mula - (Film Soundtrack)

Just got back from a trip to the UK. Standout albums that friends were playing were First Aid Kit, Polizia, Jon Hopkins.

I've been digging on this band lately. Some may think they're just a White Stripes rip-off but they got their own thang going on. The drummer makes me tingly too. Now I just have to pick up all the vinyl from them.

Little Hurricane

The War on Drugs' Lost in the Dream is my favorite so far this year. Some other recent albums from the Philly scene worth a listen are:
Strand of Oaks - Heal
Kurt Vile - Waking on a Pretty Daze

Another interesting release is Sun Kil Moon's Benji album, very raw and personal.

I have a number of their recordings due to excellent reviews.

Their recording qualities are excellent, but a portion of the music is really crappy.

OMG !!!!!!!

This is my kind of music, WOW !

And I'm in love with the drummer :exciting:

Doug, feed me some more stuff like that !

Please !!!
