For the more technically adept than myself…

I have two PS Audio dacs - a Directstream and a Stellar Gain Cell. I would like to use both the balanced and unbalanced outputs of either DAC simultaneously, the RCA to a power amp and the balanced output to the subs. The balanced outputs have 6 dB higher output according to PS Audio. I’ve had some communication with their service department, and while they don’t recommend doing it that way they said that if my connection points are favorable I could “give it a shot” because it probably won’t damage either dac.

The 6 dB difference in output would be easily manageable with the SVS subs’ control app, but probably won’t damage the DACs isn’t good enough in my mind, so what’s the take on it from those with greater technical acuity than myself? Use Y-splitters or both the balanced and unbalanced outputs simultaneously? I dislike using adapters, so the latter would be my preference.

I'm not a tech. I suspect it wouldn't cause any damage to the DAC, you're using the output. It should work or not work. I know there are preamplifiers that fully allow using both type outputs at the same time.

It's a shame their tech people couldn't provide a better answer.
