Florida Audio Expo Show Report

You make it blatantly obvious that you're not very bright. Quite the trend with many others on this forum. At least you all flock together.

Completely unnecessary. You are certainly entitled to your opinions as well as other members of the forum. There is no us vs. them here. You like what you like and that’s ok.

There is too much noise in the world. Let’s keep it fun and not personal.

What are the speakers?

This was one of my top 3 favorite rooms. The sound was organic, relaxed yet dynamic, balanced, lush and infinitely musical.

They tried to explain the tech to me but all I got was something like its class D amp inside a glass tube. /shrug, tl;dr my ears told me what I needed to know.

Not to mention that imo its among the best looking esthetically I've seen. Speakers weren't as beautiful but they sure sounded amazing.

I will consider both brands for future purchases.

Realized a couple of things since the show:

1- three of my four favorite rooms were Class D amps. Hmmmm.

2- I don't get how people put on LPs with audible, annoying, distracting, pops and crackles (or whatever you call them in LP land) for reference listening (or any, really). The Von Schweikert room played several songs from albums with very audible clicks and pops, and another room (can't recall which), a guest brought some precious demo LP he insisted be played, again with audible pops and clicks. What was also annoying in that scenario was how much time it took to remove the LP oh so carefully, hand it over like it was made of finest gossamer silk, put it on the TT, clean it, queue it, multiple attempts to find the right track/start of track. Just to hear "pop, clack, crick, crackle" in the audio and have to walk out and not really hear the system. A few other really great rooms - notably to me, the Graham Audio/Moonriver room, and I think maybe the Acora room - were playing LPs that sounded great. Smooth, clean. Almost digital even :)

Great coverage jmusica! Do you know which Graha Audio speakers were playing? Thanks.

What I read: "LS8/1 loudspeaker, launched about six months ago, priced at $9700 per pair, with stands".

Telling ya I was so surprised at how good that incredibly simple, not terribly fancy-looking, tiny room sounded. If it had more bling and hype I think it would have gotten more positive attention. An incredibly natural, relaxed, musical and engaging sound (not "warm" or flabby or anything bad, just nothing harsh, bloated or strident in any part of the frequency bandwidth, with bass that was tight and balanced and didn't punch you in the side of the head like many other rooms; very easy to listen to). I was super surprised at how inexpensive the gear was, both speaker and amp.

Sound Lab speakers was supposedly at the show, yet I haven't seen any coverage. Did they not show? Was the sound that unremarkable?

Really what room ..? Never saw them at all ..!!!

Maybe they weren't there after all. I heard from Sound Lab that there would be a display by a dealer, and they are listed as an exhibitor, but the total lack of mention anywhere makes me wonder if they didn't actually make it to the show.
