More info on MAT®, Minimal Arithmetic Transform: DSD Engine:

MAT® converts DSD into 40bit/384 kHz, thanks to an optimised algorithm limiting the amount of computational operations on the audio stream. Using only 15 bit perfect additions (no multiplication, no storage) MAT algorithm performs a 128 taps, linear phase FIR (Finite Impulse Response) digital filter ensuring the conversion of the DSD format into the internal native PCM format.

Mike, enjoyed our very long chat today. No question, the Devialet shall be a next purchase! I am so impressed... big time. They are on that bleeding edge.

I will still keep my McIntosh as my Main Sound Room equipment... but... the Devialet will be probably the workhorse.

Impressed!

There's been a number of reports of problems with SAM 2.0 on the Devialet Chat forum.

"Low frequency rumble & beating noise, as well as the glitches."

Any AS members who've load the 8.0 Firmware experienced this?

Also, has anyone tested 8.0 with DPM and the Subsonic Filter off (they're both on by default)?

BTW, a number of people have switched back to 7.1.1 or the beta 7.1.3 Firmware.

How do I install the new firmware? I downloaded then cut/pasted the 17 files to the SD card- which evidently isn't the way to do it!.

That is the way to do it.

Restart the unit by pressing and holding the power button until the word "reset" appears.

The update will take several minutes.

You also need to do a new configuration file.
