Fanfare for the Common Man - Emerson, Lake & Palmer (Olympic Stadium Montreal)

I had a ticket for that show, sold it to a friend of mine since I was working that night (stupid me).
 
Looked a little cold but I bet it was awesome. Oh well.
 
Give credit to Aaron Copland who wrote the fanfare originally in 1942, a commission based on then Vice-President Henry Wallace's speech declaring the "Century of the Common Man" during the darkest days of WWII (Wallace was FDR's vice-president from 1941-45) , and then adapted it as part of his Third Symphony.

ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition is another adaptation they did from the classical repertoire.

I recall watching as a boy on a brand new Rank Arena colour television purchased especially to watch the Montreal Olympic Games. That magnificent Olympic Stadium, wishing I was there. Riveted by the games and then that ELP Feb 77 rehearsal video came along with snow, rain and a song that would never end!
