Facebook is for “old people” and it’s floundering...

That's been going on for a while (young folks not using FB). That's why FB bought Instagram.

Don't use Facebook (or any of the social media stuff) but thinking about starting faceliftbook.com for people my age:D

love fb , caught up with so many old friends and made new ones in hi fi f/b groups . its superb for getting hold of people in business . i was charged a fine of £100 for staying 10mins too long in my local diy store which apparently only allows you an hour. as i was choosing a kitchen and talking with folks i was mortified. i contacted the manager on f/b and they rang me back in about 10 mins or even less . a lot of people still use it here .

not so long ago we found a stray dog , through f/b we found its owner in approx 1 hour which i was incredulous at

I used FB to find old friends and school mates, but rarely post anything. I call it Brag Book because too many people have a need to share their boring lives with the world. Pretty much anymore it is just an outlet for those still complaining about the last election. I really don't care that someone is going shopping today, or what they fed their kids this morning, but they obviously think I do :)

Now recently, a site started that is probably everywhere now called Nextdoor.com. It is sort of like FB but for your own neighborhood. It helps you keep up with police and fire activity, what the gunshots at 3am were all about, and group efforts finding lost pets. I also sold a computer on it last month.

Other that that, I partake in no social media.

in 2010 I joined Facebook for my 40th High School reunion.

I lasted 3 weeks, by then I realized my life did not have the time to deal with it. and that is the last time I used my Facebook account. I'd rather spend my 'web' time with this hobby and forums, or a few other interests, and not be involved in the broad based social media sites. too much not relevant noise, not enough signal.

I get 'friended' all the time and just ignore the email notices as noise. people know where and how to find me if they care to.

Facebook ins't for this "Old Person". Never could understand why anyone would share that much personal information privately let alone online. :dunno:

Jim.......Amen. I never saw any sense in social media websites. I have never used Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+, not even MS Messenger. I use email and the telephone. Works fine for me.

Apparently SnapChat just recently redesigned their app and the tweens are now in an uproar. Though I could never figure out why you would want an app that made you take a picture of say your toe just to send a message to a friend?

Twitter is very useful to me, I follow vendors and persons involved in my industry along with hobby stuff. It helps me keep up to date on new developments.

The rest are basically ways for gossiping house wives to talk smack about each other.

I don't use Snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr or Google+.

I have a FB account using an alias, which I use to follow audio companies like Wilson, Magico, Linn, etc. I have one FB friend, which was required to join a Secret Group for Maui conservatives.

I also have a Twitter account using an alias, to follow the efforts of people trying to bring down the “Deep State.”

Fake news, LOL

Kids don't want to hang where there's any rules.

I am on FB. Those here who criticize it should realize FB provides a lot of control to allow you control what you see and who from. I found old friends and school mates, family I don't get to see enough etc. I like pages of audio brands, magazines, even some place called Suncoast. I like I can check it with my phone. If I don't like what someone posts and it's consistently bugging me, I just don't follow them anymore.

I forgot who it was blow that said they don't use FB, the phone is good enough. You must still have an old fashion house phone, calling is the last thing phones are used for these days, LOL When I finally got a smart phone I couldn't believe all the screens and such I had to go through to make a call. It got better once I created contact list and could tell the phone who to call. Trust me, though, I was longing for my old flip phone for the longest. And, don't get me started on texting, by the time I have to go back and rewrite what the spell check and suggestion feature scres up I might as well just call and get it over with :) And, I know it's like FB and has controls, it's just finding them. Now I am sounding old

Facebook losing young users even faster to Snapchat, eMarketer says

Bryan, I am still using a 12 year old Motorola Razr Flip Phone. I refuse to pay $800 for a pocket computer when I am on a PC all day and have 6 at home. When the speaker went on my original Razr late last year, I bought 2 more for $30 so I still have another spare :)

This reminds me of a hilarious story. We added my friend Rick to a group chat, not knowing he had an old Motorola flip phone. Meanwhile one day, important texts were flying fast and furiously about where to meet and this and that. We didn’t know until afterwards when he told us he had a hell of a time trying to keep up. It still makes me laugh. I remember how long it used to take to type anything on that stupid phone. Three presses just to get the letter you wanted.

He finally bought an iPhone last month.

When I first got the plan, it was small and mostly for my wife and I to communicate from work. Sprint kept sending me Text advertisements and then charging me for Text Time, so I had them turn it off. I have never texted from this phone nor received any for the last 12 years.

On the downside, I have lost out on many CraigsList sales because I don't reply in seconds and I do it by email. Oh well....still not enough to change my thinking.

Whatsapp is killing all of them in any case.

You can have opt-in opt-out specialist forums for defined groups of people.
