Exogal Ceases Operations

Sounds like people have to start making chips in their own country. I know there is a plant in Texas underway to help the US.

I think this is a clear warning to avoid very small audio companies. They tend to fail due to poor management practices and undercapitalization. Caveat emptor.

Especially gear with a such a manufacturer-specific support system: complex PCBs, digital tech, firmware, etc. It's not as bad if you got a simple P2P wired tube amp. Been an audiophile since the 2000s and there have been LOTs of small boutique manufacturer failures, which never ends well for those holding the gear - and sometimes the gear was even in for repairs and then disappears. Larger companies or boutiques with a LONG track record of success (e.g. VAC) are the way to go for me. Flavor of the month stuff from a small maker is riskiest of all.
