Esoteric Upgrade Program Announced

I'm not aware of Esoteric ever offering VUK upgrade for K-series components. As far as I know it's only offered for Grandioso.
 
In the US, they are offering the upgrade on the N-01XD. See Mike’s first post above. So, not necessarily limited to Grandioso.
 
Ok. Interesting. Thx. I do think I recall seeing reports of US based N-01XD owners getting the upgrade done, but can’t recall for sure. Doesn’t seem likely without announcement from Esoteric Japan.
 
There is no way Esoteric would roll out a VUK upgrade for the US market only. It would be a world wide release. I wonder, with the recent release of the network module G4 whether there is plan to release an upgrade for N-01XD SE which includes the new network module?
 
I seem to recall (?) that the upgrade kits were going to be available for a limited time. In the US the upgrades were going to be done by TAP Electronics, Esoteric's US service contractor.
 
I remember that being said about K1X and D1X and P1X but I haven't seen anything about K-series or N-series getting the SE upgrades. My dealer has shown only luke warm interest (at best) in selling me a VUK-D1X upgrade.
 
The program is ending Apr 28. Get your upgrade order in now or snooze, you lose.

$6600 now + labor + freight.
 
I’ve heard several Esoteric digital SE models and they all sounded terrific. However; I was unable to do a comparison between the XD and XD SE versions.
 
Just to be clear, from what I understand it is only the non-Grandioso models VUK ending at the end of this month.
 
Since there are no side by side comparisons, an owner is taking a leap of faith that the SQ is going to be worth nearly $8000 all in.

I wonder about resale of the XD vs the upgraded XD-SE models.

Interesting marketing from Esoteric.

If you want it, here’s what it costs. It’s better, trust us. (Oh, we don’t really want to do too many so we will stop it after a few months. We would rather sell new models).
 
We know someone who has upgraded his Grandioso P1X and dual D1X stack to SE level a few months ago with what he tells me are extremely audible, positive improvements.

I heard a Grandioso K1XSE two weeks ago, standalone and also adding the separate power supply as an A:B and the K1XSE was much better than what I remember hearing out of the K1X and a night & day difference compared to the older K1.

Many years ago, I had an Esoteric UX-1 on which I took a similar leap of faith for a VUK program to take it to Limited level and was rewarded with a much improved product. the SE upgrades are reported to involve much more than that.

My point is only that when Esoteric offers a VUK program, the results many have seen & heard seem to indicate they are worth the stretch and the marketing is trustworthy.

The upgraded units seem to do better on the market in used sale scenarios (looking at past products) too insofar as buyers' desires are concerned.

Unfortunately there are no opportunities to A:B as most cannot afford the redundant stock.

I took the leap of faith today. The D1X upgrade to SE is sold out until September. I have to wait until then for mine to be upgraded. You would think upgraded XD-SE models would be worth less than the factory built XD-SE. Even though they are identical except for the badge on the back. If for no other reason than the upgraded unit is older, although you get a 12 month warranty extension on the upgraded unit.
