Enjoying my new Shindo

I'm new to the Shindo family. I've wanted a hifi two channel system for some time and spent a year or so researching and listening to stuff all over the place.

I landed wanting something very musical and warm that I could enjoy vinyl jazz and classic rock.

I've had my setup for only a couple of weeks and I am absolutely loving everything! I'm told things may even improve as the system gets burned in.

I welcome any maintenance or listening advice...

Looks like a very well thought out system. It certainly looks as if you did your homework. Were you able to listen
to this setup at a dealer prior to making your choices? Cheers, and enjoy!

Darren, welcome to AS! And congrats on a very musical system. How does it handle Classic Rock?

It was complicated but yes I was able to listen to the equipment in advance. I had to order a pair of the living voice from England on loan, brought them to the Shindo dealer (who was amazing) and listened to most of the gear that way.

I'll also add that early in my journey, I was more internet/review driven in my selection. I came to discover I was getting lost in all the specs, so I ended up placing great value in the dealer's experience and component selection.

Once I knew I loved the sound (and pleasure) that Shindo offered it was a little easier as components tended to start to group. Amp and preamp, A23 cables, Mr.T...stuff like that.

I love the way it handles the music I listen to. I mostly favor bebop jazz but grew up with lots of classic rock. I tend to lean towards the more instrumental or softer side of classic rock. Traffic-john Barleycorn, Tull-Thick as a brick, Acoustic Neil Young....that sort of thing. Power is certainly not an issue, so I can listen loud if I want (but that is not especially my thing either). As others have described better than me, the shindo setup offers up such a musical experience, others have described it as tone...I'm not sure what the words are but either way you can hear and feel the music around the stage, this hold true for me regardless of music genre, but to get back to your question, it sounds great with the classic rock.

The living voice are smaller than many hifi speakers, I wanted something that would fit the room well. I was blown away by the way the LV handled the highs (especially the horns of my favorite Charlie Parker pieces) but was equally surprised how much the bass comes out with the rock music. I only have <50 listening hours, so I'm also imagining that things will open up and I will get even more pleasure.

Love them!

I referenced a few reasons in my reply on how they handle rock music...but to add a little more. They are amazingly compact, but create a really big sound stage. I think they really shine with vocals, the highs of jazz, and the quiet strings of a guitar.

I will add on the con side that I probably lack the sophistication to fully comprehend the design of them in that they are designed to be bi-wired. So this has added to the cost of speaker cabling. I also chose to place them around the fireplace and not the equipment rack...so 7m x 4 was not what I was originally thinking...but I'm still super happy.
