Most, if not all, reports of such setup I read about are positive. Although this setup isolates the noise from the switch (or router) side via a fiber, the receiver adds its own noise. Therefore, people using this setup usually recommends a better power supply for the converters.

Lumin S1 / A1 / T1 / D1 users who are interested in trying it needs to be aware that these Lumin models have 100Mbps Ethernet ports, and some 1000Mbps fiber Ethernet converters do not work at 100Mbps. (Lumin U1 and M1 have 1000Mbps Ethernet ports.)
