Drama, save it for the movies. Sheesh! Mike, I'm sorry to read that someone had a temper tantrum on this forum. You run the most liberal community where folks to come together and share. I don't know of any other forum like this. Your rules are basic and reasonable. You are not a maniacal crazed OCD content cop - policing and controlling but a genuinely nice guy through and through. Pity. To go back and delete every post is vindictive...BiPolar?

This has happened several times by several members. :exciting:

Something I find that is often lost in the fog, forums are not free. They are usually privately owned websites operating for specific purposes and funded by their owners. We are invited to become members and help contribute to the success of the forum but ultimately it is no one's right to be here without the owner's permission. As a privately owned and operated forum we agree to accept and abide by the owner's rules. In order to remain active on the forum we are expected to be civil. If at any time we are not pleased with the activities on a particular forum we are free to leave and not return. The owner is equally free to moderate the forum as he sees fit and eliminate or deny access to anyone who fails to remain in line with the forum rules. It's pretty basic. Play nice or go home.

As for how we coexist as individuals on a forum where we are often quite passionate about our hobbies and lives, it isn't much different than how we go about our daily lives interacting with those around us. We learn how to get along, share, encourage others to understand our thoughts, try to understand other's thoughts, teach, learn, give, take, and hopefully all in the spirit of kindness. It is inevitable that there will be the occasional conflict of opinions but peaceful resolution trumps creating a mountain out of a mole hill. "Peace is not absence of conflict; it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means." Those words were spoken by Ronald Reagan. I believe they have a ring of truth.

Sometimes actions must be taken for the good of the forum. House cleaning is sometimes necessary to maintain the forum's mission. This action is usually at the sole discretion of the owner or a party of individuals who help support the owner. It is rarely an enjoyable task to eliminate any individual's access to a forum and it seldom happens without much effort to the contrary to keep it from happening. The ax doesn't drop at first falter but when all else fails it becomes the last resort.

We are most fortunate to have an audio forum such as AudioShark where good people can gather, foster friendships, share audio journeys, learn, grow, be entertained, brag, shop, sell, and just have fun as part of our daily lives. We are able to enjoy this forum as a gift from its owner. Ultimately we get to remain active and valued members by being good stewards, contributing in a positive way to ensure this forum's long term success.

I'll step down now.

Dan...Firstly I will say that this forum is conducted appropriately as a forum (by Roman Definition). There are clear definitions here and a duty of disclosure that is welcomed.

I will take issue with forums that do not qualify their mission and rules appropriately. You know there are forums out there that are sponsor driven and run by product dealers who heavily moderate and sensor content to suit their own commercial agenda. One in particular that looks a bit like this forum. Whatever...so you choose to leave after getting sucked in on a bad deal, resign your paid-up membership to the owner with a complaint that you didn't get all of your invoices (as legitimate proof of purchase) for the many thousands of dollars you spent with him and then you get banned. Paid membership forfeited. What about the product warranties? Such site owners should make appropriate mission statements with a clearly defined set of rules about the participation level desired instead of being subversive about it in front of his garage bling once the gentile has been milked.

There are forums where there is topical discussion and then there are those sites that claim to be forums that are nothing more than dealer doormats to their questionable businesses. Those places should not be allowed to use the ".org" domain suffix.

Steve.......The forum of which you imply is not my forum so I cannot address any grievances you may continue to harbor, nor do I intend to. What positive results can be achieved by putting forth those comment to me here?

You and I have had many interesting conversations through the years. We share similarities in our systems and we both have a great passion for our hobby. I prefer to talk about audio equipment, system performance, and pleasurable experiences rather than dredge up old scenarios over which I have no control. I joined this forum for entertainment and fun, nothing more.

Dan...My past experience comes up in the context of privately run forums. What I am suggesting here, is that participants should be careful with their contribution and interaction levels because all is not always as it seems when it comes to the online world and ecommerce.

As for the other forum I am referring to, I am over it. I just don't want any other newbies to this great hobby get poisoned or burnt by a bad experience after placing reliance upon certain online dealer representations. I was once a newby and in many respects still am when it comes to the machinations of this expensive hobby.

Forums should be a place of discussion about the common truth, knowledge, experience and opinion.

Dan...you brought it home. The whole point is to engage our love affair for audio. Thanks for the jolt and accordingly, refocused on what matters most. Our mistress, Music and the audio equipment that satisfying that addictive craving..

With respect to bringing up past BS that I experienced on another forum, I'll try my best not to bring that up again.

I simply don't want to read about people being done in for participating with genuine intent.

Ok, I'm going to shut this thread down. It's run its course, we have reached a conclusion (24 hours) and now it's going sideways.
