I went to the Eagles concert here in St. Paul at the Excel center which seats over 20K. A friend of mine had great tickets and his wife had to fly out of town on business so he gave me the $350 ticket and I paid for dinner, drinks and parking. I was not expecting what I heard given how old the members are and how large the arena is. But I was blown away. These guys are true professionals. They played from 8pm to 1130pm. Their vocals were awesome and on key. They harmonized as if they were in studio. The guitar work was phenomenal and they played and sang with tremendous energy. The acoustics were good and the instruments, bass and drums did not overwhelm the vocals like it did at the Stevie Wonder concert I was at about 3-4 years ago which made it a bust.
Vince Gill was great and sounds like an original member. Glenn Frey's son Deacon Frey is in the group and he sang all of Glenn's songs and sounds a bit like him. He is a great addition.
They definitely sound better live than on their albums. They started out with all electric music then switched off between acoustic guitars and electric. Joe Walsh still has great guitar chops and Henley's voice was sublime.
Just a great night overall. We ate at a Russian restaurant called Moscow On the Hill. Their homemade Horseradish vodka and Buffalo Grass vodka was awesome as was the food..
