There is a happy medium. I know some guys that have given total control of their lives to their wives. At the other extreme are guys with the attitude of "It's my way or the highway." Those type don't normally stay married long unless their wife is a doormat.
Mark.......Compromise is a communication art that is essential in any successful relationship. It is an entirely different behavior than subservience. There is plenty of room between your two stated extremes for a man and a woman to coexist in harmony.
One of the things I find disgusting is the continuing feminization of men that has been slowly creeping into our society as a whole. It has been open season on men for years to get males to behave with more feelings and less logic. Males are often portrayed as dumb slobs while females are portrayed as wise and educated. Rather than women embracing men for their differences, the movement has been to belittle and embarrass men for being men in an attempt to control and alter their behavior, make them more sensitive and understanding of the plight of women. For crying out load, they have men wearing fake pregnant belly packs to demonstrate to them how it "feels" to carry the weight and burden of being pregnant. What's even crazier is there are men letting it happen. What a crock of BS.
I make no apologies for being a man, having male thoughts, and enjoying male activities, nor have I ever felt it necessary to embrace my feminine side, whatever the hell that means. We now have large groups of young metro-sexual men around the country who no longer identify as male, but rather see themselves as A-sexual, again whatever that means. They wear lipstick, eye makeup, nail polish, and don't have a clue how to fit into the world beyond their like minded groups. Schools now have gender neutral bathrooms for those who aren't sure what they are but still need to take a piss without feeling they have been discriminated against. It probably won't be long before there are no more wall urinals in men's bathrooms. I have heard women state they were jealous that men could pee while standing. Men should have to sit down on a toilet to pee just like women, right?
A college in Tennessee just banned faculty and students from using gender specific words like "he" and "she", male and female, or "his and 'her" on campus. They have come up with some made up word they deem gender neutral. California just past a law that will allow prison inmates to be housed in the facility that fits their gender identity, despite their actual sex. California State Supreme Court has ruled that state taxpayer money can be used to fund prisoner sex change operations and hormone therapy. It goes much deeper but I'm sure you get the gist of my thoughts. I am not impressed with any of it, nor will I adjust my personal beliefs to coddle others, be it women or men. I am not embarrassed to be a man, quite the opposite actually, I am proud to be a man. All I can say is, if someone doesn't like who I am then it is probably best they avoid me. Trust me, it won't hurt my "feelings".
