Does this power amp calculator make sense, or am I missing something?

I have been working on a power amplifier calculator, and I’m seeking feedback from individuals who work with audio or electronics.

Current features:
  • Calculates output power vs speaker impedance
  • Shows voltage and current requirements
  • Helps size amplifiers for 4Ω / 8Ω loads
  • Designed for quick checks (not replacing full design math)

I built it to be useful for both beginners and experienced users, but I’d really like opinions on:
  • Are the calculations presented in a way you’d trust?
  • What features would make this genuinely more useful?

I just played around with it. I keep getting an 8-15w suggestion. Is that Tubes or Solid State or either? It also does not take into account that some speakers just perform better with way more than the minimum recommended watts and some perform excellent with just a few watts.

Cool project and calculators!

Thanks for trying the calculator out. All the amps suggested are solid state i havent started building tube amps. As for the speaker suggestion, kindly break it down so that I know how to integrate it into the tool to make it better

That calculator is so off. It recommended 10-15 wpc for my Arendal 1528 bookshelfs that are 4 ohm and have a sensitivity of 84db. If I use a 10 watt amplifier it will clip at moderate levels. These speakers need good clean power to sound their best. The company recommends at least 100 wpc and preferably 150 wpc all the way up to 500 wpc.

The calculator does not seem to consider sensitivity. Does it adjust the amplifier power when the sensitivity of the speaker is the same value but the impedance is different? For example, a speaker rated 90dB and 8 Ohms requires 1 Watt, but if 4 Ohms requires 2 Watts to obtain the same sound pressure.
