probably came from someone that argues that "the sky is opaque, not blue!!"
 
If the word vinyl or vinyls is brought up by another person in any conversation I'm having to describe vinyl records or singular record as the case may be, I just correct it then and there. I'll stop then and there and say "Vinyl record" if they stop at vinyl or "records" if they use the word vinyls.
Maybe it annoys me sub-consciously, but it's almost an automatic reaction, so I just correct and move on without much thought about it.
 
Girl that shirt really annoys me take it off now or I will throw a bucket of ice water on it. Just another way of handling the problem.
 
The plural of Myles is Myles.

In England, the singular of innings is innings. As in "England was 250 all out in the first innings of the Test Match."
