Does the quality of the recording dictate your listening?

I prefer listening to great sounding stereo albums, but I think the first consideration is the music content. Unless the recording is really bad, and I have some of those.

The music is important, however the recording quality seems to be important also. Some of my favorite music I discovered because of how renowned the reputation of the recording is. I find that less and less do I listen to lower resolution albums (pretty much only if I am really in the mood for a particular artist and low res is all that is available). when I sit down to really listen for a bit it is almost always a DSD album... and rarely anything under 96 kHz.

I have to admit there are a few albums where I don't care for the music but admire the recording quality. There are also albums I really like but wished the recording was better. I tend to try to chase down better recordings of music I like but sometimes this is pointless.
