Does anyone know how to search Discogs. Every time I end up in it I want to punch my computer screen. To me, its the worst website in the world. Is there a page or youtube that does a good job of explaining how to find something on it? Thanks

It does require some navigating to figure out but when you do, I agree it is solid

What are you trying to do?

as said by others, its pretty easy to use and hold LOTS of information.

all you do is enter your band / artist, select the artist, then select on the album and choose from all the available versions. If you want to buy, just click on the for sale link.

Also buying regularly on Discogs, in case there is something rare I want, that is not anymore available new.

I typically do Google searches, which then point me to Discogs.

For one, I don't even get a dropdown to select vinyl or digital. They all populate.

Second, say I'm interested in finding a 1968 charlie brown christmas. I don't see how to know if rhere are any available from the page full of releases.

First pic shows under Marketplace Vinyl and CD, click on Vinyl. Second PIC gives you a look at whats there and if I had include all of them it would show CD"s as well, on the left side, click under format click on Vinyl , 3rd pic there are some of the vinyl selections

Non of the album you pulled up are 1968. They are all the new reissue that are not that good. They aren't even the 1970s that were pretty good. I thought under the main screen you were suppose to see all the versions that were published. From there you could select that specific version and see if any were for sale?

Yes I am a freek. I like a few particular holiday album. One of the other is the Nutcracker. Especially the version by the Tibilisi orchastra. How do I sort an album, and the orchestra. I have tried but I seem to end up with CD populating. Maybe there are non in vinyl, but I would expect it to just say non available.

I don't see any 1965 for sale. Only 80 or newer, correct. I pick a year and to the right I have to look under market place to see if any are for sale. Correct?

Also, how do I sort down to title. For instance, in the nutcracker. It gives me every album that has a song of such title. I only want the album. Not a mix record with one or 2 songs. And I still don't see how to sort by orchestra?

Thanks

none for sale in the 1960's.

I have not seen anyone comment on searching my either orchestra or label, along with an album. Say I want to pick up some album in particular that was pressed in Japan or the UK. I can search for sale in a country. I see that. But in the case of classical, not by the conductor or orchestra. Any help with a more specific search ?

I cant read your mind, be specific what are you looking for?

I'm asking to understand how I input filters to find a specific Orchestra, label or geographic region that an album was produced/pressed in.
I don't think you can unless you know the exact UPC number or something similar. The only filters for searching the marketplace are the ones listed on the side.

I'm not asking for somebody to search for me. I'm asking to understand how I input filters to find a specific Orchestra, label or geographic region that an album was produced/pressed in.

You can search by orchestra, conductor et al. the process is manual. If you could set up filters the results are only as accurate as the operator that inputs the data you actually run the risk of incomplete search results. This is a peer to peer driven site dependent on members to fill in the gaps and expand the data base. Is it perfect? no. Some overlap, redundancy and discontinuity in the data base can and does exists for specific recordings.

Never new 1965 came with a snowflake vinyl. Thats a reissue. Sure would bot be $49.

All the others are a narative of the show. It's not music. It's a read along book.

Thanks for looking. I figures out how to register as a want on the older versions.
