Wow, I listened to all of the 30 second clips and (I think) I was able to detect some differences between the first nine samples through my desktop system. But then I got to the tenth - the Amazon Dolby Atmos sample, and it was clear that this was VERY different. I think I will be checking spatial audio out a little closer going forward.

Thanks for the link, MIKE!

if you look at the average top rankings in different countries of all DS albums, making movies ended on the last place. If an album like this is the least selling, it does say something how good this band was. The final part of the first track tunnel of love is ridiculous beautiful.

That's crazy, or, I am, it's my favorite. My impression the songs on the album may have gotten play on AOR but not a hit for Top 40. Songs like Sultans of Swing and then the Brothers In Arms album made the hits.

Sadly for the masterworks Tunnel of love and Romeo and Juliet, les boys is also on that album, which doesn’t make this DS album my nr 1 anymore. I never liked that lyrics.

I have both DSD versions and 45 RPM vinyl versions of the first several albums. I believe that all of them are pretty darn amazing. Great albums to show what your system is capable of for sure.

I agree they're all pretty amazing. The last one, 'On Every Street' sounds pretty darn incredible.

I agree, while they are all fantastic, that first album was very special!
Yep, I remember hearing Sultans of Swing for the first time on the radio and I thought - Whoa! This band is different. I have enjoyed all of their albums, seen them a couple of times, and in recent years I'm blown away again - by Knopfler's solo work.

His complete package - writing, singing and playing - is hard to match. I honestly thought his show about 6 or 7 years ago was much better than the Dire Straits shows from the 80's. He has matured like the finest wine, and IMO he should be in the "best XXXX" discussion far more often. He has certainly earned a spot at the table.
