Did you know Journey existed before Steve Perry??

Yep, Steve appeared on Journey's 4th album. Greg Rollie & Neal Schon cut their teeth in Santana for a while before forming Journey. The first few albums are a nice mix of Rock and Fusion.

The real Journey ended with SP. Just two weeks ago I saw one of the better Journey Cover Bands, Odyssey Road. They stay at a friend's house when they travel this way and he sets up a concert in his back yard every year. I begged them to play something from the first 3 albums but they wouldn't or couldn't.

The music from the first 3 is so much different than with SP. It was jazzy, fusion, rock as opposed to more commercial.

Mr P, do you have a copy of the old Journey Comp from back in the Rave Recordings days that are just the first 3?

I actually own the first 3 and pretty much all the Journey up to Escape. I bought th EP Red 13 which has a couple good songs on it, one a really stand out.

If you like Santana Rollie and Schon put an album out unde the name Abaxas Pool I like.

I used to have a double LP called Journey, In The Beginning which was a nice comp of the first 3 albums, I'm kicking myself for letting it go.

Did you listen to the Tauk tracks I posted? If so, how did you like that? They originate from somewhere in NY. Seems like something you'd enjoy. I'm going to try their album Collusion.
