DeVore Gibbon X

It's amazing that these speakers have been out for more than a year and there isn't a single comprehensive professional or enthusiast review. There is something amiss. Does anyone who might own them have any interest in providing a summary of their experience with it?

I have a demo pair here......I personally, have been really impressed with the X's.

That is both surprising and perhaps not new.

I bought my DeVore Gibbon 88 speakers after seeing only two older reviews, but mainly after an in-store audition. I love their deep and rich sound tremendously.

And would likely get the Gibbon X speakers instead, but they wouldn't fit well -- by size -- into my room.

I wonder if John DeVore does not really push for reviews, unlike several other audio companies which clearly do.

I am really interested in feedback on this speaker. I'm looking to compare it to the Daedalus offerings in addition to the O/96. I'm looking to pair my choice with a Line Magnetic 219i sometime next year. Who has experience with the Xs compared to the Silverbacks?

Do you have a local dealer you could go see/hear the X's and 96's?

In addition to the 219, I would also take a quick listen to the new 508ia in combo with the X's. It's a pretty great matchup (also mates well with the 96's).

Do you guys think the whole confusion with Atkinson's measurements on the O/96 and then John Devore's letter explaining things and the back and forth maybe spoiled him on reviews?

Michael Lavorgna has a pair in for review as well as Scot Hull. Michael refers to them as "bada%*" on audio stream but that's all.

The Xs haven't been out for a year - started shipping in March as i recall. Matt at PPA told me several Silverback owners have upgraded, they are that impressed.

Looking forward to reading those reviews.

I wasn't impressed with them but maybe the setup was bad. As a point of reference I like Magnepans and Vandersteens.

I purchased a pair of Devore Gibbon X's earlier this year. I don't particularly like the Gibbon 88's but the X's are a different kettle of fish entirely. I spent over 2 years looking and listening to tube friendly speakers. One thing I have learned is to take reviews with a grain of salt, and to listen to speakers myself - properly run in and set up - and preferably in my own home. The Devore O's were an option I thought I would like, but they did not work well in my living room. The X's did, and beautifully. Audio Note AN-E's and Proac D48's were 2 other options I seriously considered.
